    Challenge 1 WIP

I was already working on this when I had the idea for this thread smiley

Still needs alot of work, modeling and tweaking the glass texture, the lens flare glow looks good.  Unfortunately Glare and 3d Aura don't work through glass.

The rim light comes from a bulb light directly behind the 'bulb'.  Needs more rim light though to better match the challenge image.  Maybe tweaking the glass shader will help.  A little fresnel maybe.

try a spot with a lens flare just in front of the bulb pointing at the camera

Popping in the thread just to say this is a great idea.  No time now to participate but will make some time in the not too distant future.

Octane render and added thickness to the bulb, it did have thickness but clipped for some reason in Octane so now double thickness.

it was lathed from a polyline tracing

is smoothed 4X but still a bit facetty in Octane

I need a better screw, that is not actually spiralled, might use spline room to make one

Oh nice!  Does Octane automatically add that glow to glow shaders?

to an extent but I tweaked an octane shader, glow otherwise has very low blackbody emission

I also added glare and bloom

Not sure of an easy way of doing that in Carrara though I've seen a youtube tutorial for doing such a thing in hexagon...

draw a shape then extrude a spiral

the settings are the annoying part as much starting over

I did one and stuck it on a cylinder but ended up converting to a vertex model and offsetting

Looks ok, though like the look of that filament glow from octane better...

my rapid attempt, even basic lighting took a couple hours, gave up on sun and skylight

if keen later might try FLUIDOS

don't gain much sunlight instead of indirect light and skylight rendering

except 3 more hours and only this far...blush
