BEHOLD: The New Guy: HamsterionX

Hello Everyone!
I am the HamsterionX, and I am happy to find a place like this to resolve some issues i'm having haha
But first off I will say- I'M A TOTAL NOOB AT 3D MODELING. So just to let you guys know, i'm probably gonna do, ask and say some really stupid things so just bear with me okay haha
I recently got into 3D modeling (About two months ago) and so far I am loving it! My usual artistic medium is traditional-pencils, paper and ink- but so far i'm enjoying this new frontier. I first tryed Blender, I have a tiny amount of knowledge about it, and decided to move on to DAZ studio, and finally Carrara Pro 8.5. As I said, i'm still getting the hang of things, but i'm eager to share my work ^^
How is everyone today? I am hoping to meet alot of you guys and I'm happy to answer and questions you all have ^^
Once again, Hello Everyone! Hows it hanging? :D

Hello and welcome tot eh forums. If you have questions feel free to post them in the New Users forums. We have a wonderful group of people that will guide you through your problems.
Wait... What do we call you? HamsterionX or hamstern2006? I'm betting neither one of those is on your drivers license... That's okay, my username is lordvicore but I usually go by McGyver... I tried to have lordvicore on my drivers license, but the guy at the DMV just told me to leave...
Life is rough...
But getting answers to important questions at DAZ's "Welcome!" forum is both easy and low in calories... Okay I don't really think it is low in calories... unless of course it makes you want to eat rice cakes or other cardboard based snacks...
It's good to see someone who is interested in modeling too... I don't know why, but that seemed like something to say...
I don't know if it's because I make models too or because I couldn't think of anything else to say...
Maybe both...
I use Blender sometimes, it's a great program... Complicated, but great.
There are a number of folks here who have a background in pen and ink too... I don't draw all that much anymore, I'm mostly into sculpting stuff. Thats one of the reasons I started making 3D models...
That and dressing up chipmunks in period uniforms and teaching them to reenact key battles of the civil war started getting really expensive after a while.
That and chipmunks bite.
I'm not really replying to this in the order in which you wrote your introduction, but most people just say "Hi!" or "Welcome" regardless of what someone says... I like to go that extra inch or two...
Let's see... What are we up to next...
I think most of the people here are doing fine... Except for that guy who leaned too far back in his chair and fell out the window... He fell on a shrub which broke his fall, but it was a thorn bush so, it's not as good as it could have been...
I'm okay...
Actually, I'm not really that okay...
I may have been bitten by a werewolf or werewolves earlier this evening...
I won't bore you with the details, but it was both funny and a little sad.
You'll probably meet a lot more of the DAZ regulars as time goes on... I've been here for years, but I'm not really a regular anymore, I usually just pop in and say something strange and then disappear for a while...
This is one of those instances.
You mentioned something about answering any questions we may have...
What is your favorite snack food?
Do you have any pets?
What is a hamsterion?
On the plasma flow shunts in a Tokamak reactor, should the vanes be in the raised or closed position during purge cycle?
What's your favorite sport?
And your blood type... What blood type are you?
Actually the last one is really important.
Okay, they told me to stop asking people that question, so never mind.
I was also going to give detailed information on how stuff is hanging but I've been told that's not socially acceptable, especially when it's a detailed account, with diagrams...
Well, anyway... It's great to meet you, and luckily for you I'll probably forget all about this 20 seconds after I hit "Submit Post" so you'll never need to think twice about this whole post.
I hope you have a great time here and with 3D in general!
See ya later!
~ROFL~ But we won't forget it 20 seconds after we read it.
Anyway, welcome to the DAZ forums HamsterionX (or hamstern2006). I have a distinct feeling you're going to easily fit in here at the mad house. :coolsmirk:
Oh dear...DERP...Well i'm being an idiot haha...for some reason I was under the assumption I signed up as HamsterionX, but instead the forums here deced to pick out a portion of my email...I mean, HAMSTERN2006??!!?? I've been known as HAmstern, and HamsterionX, and no more...CAn I change this? hamstern2006 phhhh ANYWHO Frank, thanks for theintroduction and you are right about the people, I'v already received the help I need most ^^
Now Miss B, you wouldn't be suggesting that I'm a nut like some people round here would you-" I have a distinct feeling you’re going to easily fit in here at the mad house."...haha I'm proclaimed a nut no matter where I go ^^
Now lordvicore...or McGyver...Rice cakes are scrumptious! I could eat em all day! And as for drawing, I still do so, iprimarily draw monsters, demons, *some* manga, landscapes and anatomical drawings of monsters and demons and aliens and-I should shut up now before I write a mini novel on what I do heheh...and as for chipmunks, CHIMPMUNKS IN CIVIL WAR OUTFITS SOUNDS LIKE WHERE IT"S AT! Now just smuggle me a few wombats from Australia and make me a Chariot with them pulling it and a groundhog archer haha
And as for you deciding to write a bit more than a "Welcome", thank you, I respect that and appreciate that ^^
Werewolves huh? I'm pretty sure my DNA has every known rodent and fluffy marsupial in the galaxy....and Wombat.
My favorite snacky (yes I call them snackies) would probably be a dill pickle fresh from the jar-I pretend it's a big cigar and chew on it for an hour or so
Pets? Seven fish tanks 2 bearded dragons 3 sugar gliders and lots of plants and my garden (Plants ARE pets you know!)
Hamsterion is a small moon that exists out in the universe that contains the most technologically advanced hamsters in the universe that make movies for my Youtubing and art.
Tomahawk? Dude, what's a tomahawk reactor?
Sport? EWWWW SPORTS!!!
Blood type? How am I supposed to know?!? What are you gonna rob me of my precious hamster blood? Really important? It will come at the price of ten million pesos!!! MUAH HAHA HAHA HAHAHAHAH-what that's only like a dollar in English currency? Oh dear....
Hahaha I see someone caught on to my "how's it hanging tidbit" heheh
Thanks for the rather expansive introduction lordvicore...or McGyver....Don't hesitate to ask anymore questi-DO HESITATE to ask more questions haha thanks everyone :D
I have forwarded your request for a forum name change to Richard Haseltine, he is the one as can change the name.
Screen name updated, payment (used notes only, please) should be sent to the usual address.
Haha no way! Thank you so much guys for the screen name change ^^ But I must ask, what is it do you mean by "payment"?
Oh whoops, did I forget to tell you that you have to "talk nicely" to our Mr Haseltine to get a name change that sticks.
Welcome!
Since you mentioned modeling, and getting DAZ Studio and then Carrara, you should be aware that Studio doesn't really have much in the way of modeling except for some primitives. It's not a bad program, but the analogy for the software would be more akin to a photo studio.
DAZ's other software, such as Bryce, Hexagon and Carrara are each quite different.
Bryce's main focus is primarily environments. There are some great tools for generating terrains, skies, clouds, water, etc. It can do some modeling but that is not its main focus. There is a bridge to allow you to bring in elements from Studio. Chohole could tell you more about Bryce than I could.
Hexagon is strictly a vertex modeler. There is a bridge to Carrara or it can save .car files, as well as .pbj files. I think there is also a bridge to take stuff from Hex into Studio. It has been a long time since it was updated, so I read about people with stability issues.
Carrara is more like a suite. You can set up a scene similar to Studio and use DAZ 3Ds vast library of figures, poses, props, vehicles, etc. In addition, it has a capable vertex modeler (lacks some features that Hex has from what I've read), Spline modeler, metaball modeler, plant generator, terrain generator and a set of set of deformers. Carrara also has volumetric clouds, atmospheres, particles, replicators, a strong suite of animation tools such as a graph editor, multiple tweener types and editable keyframes. There are more features than I can list.
There are some areas that Carrara does lack, such as there are no fluid sims, and softbody physics for cloth sims is in its infancy. Some other features work well, but are getting a bit creaky and could use some updates, but all in all it's pretty stable and the native renderer is fast compared to some others, plus there are Lux and Octane plugins to get your scenes into an un-biased renderer.
