Mazedness for DAZ Studio [Commercial]
This is Mazedness! A huge elevated maze built of narrow crumbling pathways atop high walls and surrounded by pits of lava.
This very rustic prop set Includes a 105 x 175 meter maze, 2 floating platforms, a wall that can be instanced/duplicated to customize the maze, a lighted/lamp post made from an old tree trunk, murky water, and molten lava.
The lamp post and lava include multiple types of lights which shorten your set up time towards bringing a cohesive realism to the scene. See modified surface names/channels to adjust quality of UberArea lights. The lava includes a super-heated gaseous layer made of UberVolume. The lava and water plane are also 105 x 175 meters!
This set also Includes seamless tiled shaders for ancient stone, thick moss, and icy sleet. With the included sleet shader you can turn all of the moss into frozen snow and the water into a sheet of ice, don’t slip!
Did I mention this set is huge?
Please do! Post any questions or renders here. I can hardly wait to see what you all do with this set.
I think Esher would have enjoyed it.

This looks AWESOME and I have been looking for something like this forever and a day, My question is will it work in Poser9? some Daz items do wanted to check before I buy thanks for any help :)
Hi beachsidelegs,
Thank you! I'm very proud of this set, especially the lava. The lava lights use an UberArea plane that casts diffused light in all directions, glowing like real lava would.
There is no Poser version available at the moment. Many features including lights, shaders, and surfaces would not translate without some work. I've converted Poser items to work in DS but not the other way.
I think all stone items would work with minimal adjustment, to use the geometry itself. The main maze uses bump and displacement for all texture but the wall, Hi-Rez platform, and parts of the lamp post have sculpted 3D textures.
The lava uses UberVolume- Both lava and lamp post use UberArea lights- Those will not work.
The water and lava use Ubersurface- I don't think these surfaces will translate very well at all, especially the water.
Almost all of the props use displacement maps and I don't know how those translate in Poser.
I'm giving a lot of information here, to sum up I'm not really sure about any of it. Hope this helps you to make a decision.
Any PA interested in a conversion/collaboration?
You have been very thorough with your reply thank you so much, I will have to update my Daz Studio or wait to see if someone tries it out in poser. Thank you so much and congratulations on such an Awesome item :)
This looks great! I bet it'll be fun to use with Kaleidoscope.
I was thinking the same thing.
Looks really great!
What are the big walls around the maze on this picture, please?

Hi Juju!
Those walls are the exterior walls of the main maze. I was really inspired by the scenes from Mazerunner, can you tell? There are three mazes that form the perimeter of the camp (see screen cap). In the screen cap I have the camera selected so you can achieve a similar render/angle if you like.
To retain CPU performance you could use instancing to duplicate the main maze twice, this is what I did in all of my promos that have multiple mazes.
Let me know if you have more questions, I am watching email today and can answer quickly.
That is an awesome idea! I wasn't sure of the release date of these two products and/or if it might have been confusing to use both in one promo so I decided against it. I'll have to play with this idea for sure.
If you create a render using both I'd love to see it.
is this a static maze or a dynamic maze?
It is static in that it will not animate, morph, or has moving parts- does that answer your question? I usually see dynamic as it relates to clothing. The wall prop included has the same textures as the maze and is intended (in part) to allow customization and moving parts.
a first render with the mazedness :)
Thanks for posting. Nice mix of textures with the stone and skin.
I hope she makes it out of there but it's not looking good.

oh she will :) she is Dixie and these creatures will soon know that, too :)
aaand...the image has the titel "dx - trapped" dx stands for Dixie but "trapped" says nothing about who is trapped :) Dixie or the creatures :)

i have seen at least one movie where the maze changes while the maze runner is trying to finish the maze. a wall moves and the maze is different.
also i was wondering if the maze can be customized to make it different.
@cosmo71 Thanks for posting your renders. Most of my promo illustrations are wide shots. I had hoped to see some closer renders like this from other artists. Nice!
Here is my first try with Daz 4.7 and the wonderful mazedness, Would like to know how to make a bigger image in Daz this is 600 by 600.

Thank you marshian that will be a great help :)
How well does this work in IRAY?
i've already been owning https://www.daz3d.com/amazeing-journey-around-the-world for a while, but recently Mazedness has been on sale a lot. it looks pretty similar but still different - tho i really suck at comparisons. i think Mazedness has different textures, like the stones.. or what? so i wondered if there was a point buying a similar, older non-iray product if i already own the "recent version"... what is exactly the difference, besides the iray thing?
Hi manekiNeko. I made both products. Simply put, and for many reasons, stick with the one you have. The older one is a strong product but it is for 3Delight.
haha, i love simple, clear, short answers! thanks @Marshian ^^
