How to zip content?

Hi,

I'm sure there is a tutorial somewhere for this but when you type in the words ZIP or INSTALLER you get Gazillions of posts about how unzipping, not finding, where is my stuff etc.

I actually made my first boots for Genesis2 male and want to make it a freebie. But I don't know what components are necessary and where they are. I know where my textures are of course but I don't know which other files are created when you save something as prop (especially in the data folder).

If someone can drop me a link or a hint that would be helpful. Thanks.

Greetings Cyprith

The geometry (and any morphs) will be in \Data\AuthorName\ProductName\Item where the Authorname adn productName are the ones you entered when saving as an asset (assuming you did - if not you need to). The Textures should be in \Runtime\Textures\SomeFolder, assuming you placed them there before applying them (if not, if you loaded them from a folder outside the content directories, then the locations will be stored as absolute paths - the drive and every folder up to the textures - and will fail on other machines). The character preset for loading the model, and any materials or other presets, will be wherever you put them.

    My suggestion is always:

create a new, empty, folder and add itt o the list of DAZ Studio Content Directories by right-clicking on DAZ Studio Formats in the Content Library pane and selecting Add Base Directory. Create a Runtime folder in that and a textures folder in that, then create a custom folder (say Cyprith) and a folder inside it for the product - place your textures in that.

Normally, import your mesh and rig it but presumably you've already done that so, at least if you haven't yet saved it as an asset, load it from a saved scene. If the textures weren't already in the Runtime\Textures location when you loaded them reapply them from there now. File>Save as>Support Assets>Figure prop Asset..., enter author ("Cyprith", say) and product (G2M Boots say" names and check that the base directory at the top is set to your new folder. In the file dialogue save the preset to, presuambly, \People\Genesis 2 Male\Clothing\Somefolder in your new content directory. Ad a readme to your new content directory, seelct everything in there and zip it up.

    Thanks Richard. :D

I know most of the part except for the data folder. Now that mystery is solved too. I always wonder where DAZ put in the geometry after the change from the poser format.
