Ok, I have tried a few times. same thing every time. The clothes fly off and return at the end of the drape cycle.
Yes I am baking my animation to the time line, yes I am freezing the drape. L if I know.

got the V5 bow skirt to work in Carrara (a bit of pokethrough but that would be fixable with displacement or collision smoothing) but not the poncho, so it must need to be rigged and conformed.
    but yes, works!
I resaved the scene with the poncho parented to Genesis, now THAT works TOO!!!!

You found it: for the clothes made for V4, you have to manually parent the cloth to the Genesis figure, not the hip, after you freeze the simulation. The program doesn't do it automatically, like it does for the clothes made for Genesis. Also, (only for the clothes made for V4 or M4), it is better to have Genesis in a T-pose at first, then give a few frames before the simulation starts to help the clothes fit the figure, even if you have to modify the pose a bit for the first few frames.

Where did you get the hair?

Does this just not work with V4?

Sure. It works very well with V4. But I thought we were discussing the possibilities of it working in Carrara 8.5, and the main benefit of Carrara 8.5 is the introduction of Genesis. But sure, you can use V4 in Carrara 8.5 too.

It was one of the modacuts that came with Carrara lengthend and trimmed on the fringe and less stiffness allowed on the hair, no bounce, full friction and density, likewise all other mesh.

Here is Genesis walking with Optitex "Century nightgown" simulated in Poser 9 and rendered in carrara 8.5 with the "dyn_to_morphs" Python script. Ain't that pretty the way this nightgown moves?
    http://youtu.be/23ckK_LrhX0

I simulated the same scene in DS 4.5 RC3 without problems. But, this piece of clothing having been made for V4, I was unable to transfer it to Carrara 8.5 (I baked the keyframes to the timeline and froze the simulation, of course). If somebody is more successful than me, please let me know how you did it.

Don't get me started on that money pit known as genesis.

I'm trying this with V4 and dynamic clothes for V4, it just does not work. The clothes simply will not stay on V4 for an animation.

Edit to add: Never mind, this is DUF for genesis, of coarse it wont work on the previous generation, my bad. I was a fool to expect it to.

Well, just for the hell of it, I took V4 (not Genesis), dressed her up with the "Century nightgown" in DS 4.5 RC3, simulated it, and exported it as a DUF file to Carrara 8.5 build 149. It works with V4 too! Boy, does that nightgown look good or what???

    Can't understand your troubles...

trying now, will take a while to simulate, doing a decent length anim.
I did not fit it to Genesis for a start, I think that might be the solution
treating it like the poncho, a prop
was able to use the rigging to resize and translate bits to fit so it is draping nicely thus far
will parent it to her after freezing and see if it works in Carrara

This is what I get with every try http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1l1-ZHyCpFo&list=UUdhRDgjpBQsflNDs3TBV6bQ&index=1&feature=plcp

And this was the issue I was having after DAZ update collada in studio3
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCp2zWxaRr0&list=UUdhRDgjpBQsflNDs3TBV6bQ&index=2&feature=plcp

    The problems are almost identical.

I'm going to have to stop posting vids to youtube, it just wants to file through all my vids and not just show the one I posted.

Stan, you need to copy the Share button code. You're grabbing your playlist code.

I got it, folks! Doin' the happy dance! Finally, I've been able to export Genesis with the Century nightgown (made for V4) from DS 4.5 RC3 to Carrara 8.5. There's a little hole near her right hand, but that can easily be taken care of. I think my problem was that I used to export from Daz Studio to Save as/Support asset/Scene asset when I now simply Save as/Scene. It's the same DUF format, but there seems to be a little difference.

Just for Stan - see Genesis with V4 outfit - you don't have to spend money for new stuff .

Here's another one, probably my last. Same set-up as in the previous post. This one is putting the accent on how dynamic clothing inter-acts with props. You might want to observe how the nightgown dynamically conforms with the contours of the chair. Try that with conforming clothing...

oddly enough. my reopened saved duf files explode like Stan's in studio
    ok in Carrara though
ruined my nightdress file by resaving over old one but
yes parented to Genesis it works
if you unparent it even in Carrara, it does not
but if Genesis has any transforms, it unsyncronizes it so all moves must be on the hip down
tried grouping but no drape, must be parented to the figure to work so do not thnk props with no figures will work (yet to try)

and yes Argus, I saved as scene right off the bat, never thought to try anything else so will stick with that!

Stan be sure you get the new version of DS - DUF files work much better in Carrara 8.5 .

Stan, do yourself a favour, buy a cheap new computer (they are damned cheap these days) and just install Carrara and studio on it
there MUST be a software/hardware conflict on yours of some sort.
the other advantage is you get a second rig to render on too.
some softwares and hardware too DO conflict with each other, my usb broadband dongle removes my DVD burner on my laptop for example.(seems ok on the desktop)

What makes no sense to me is I can load the .daes I was working with before that last disastrous build of studio 3, and they work just fine. It's just since that install, this hasn't worked.

Yes, reopening the DUF in studio gives me very similar results.

yes my saved duf scenes work in Carrara but not studio!
which is ok as that is where I want to render it but too bad if I wanted to re-open it in studio and say add cloth
I get Stan's explode/flyoff effect but Carrara ok thank goodness.

That is what I have been working with, doesn't work. The problem is almost identical to the problem I have had right along, it's like the clothes dynamic animations aren't "freezing" to the figure. They are only on the figure in the first frame and last drape frame.
I'm having very similar issues with the DUF that I was having with collada before.

Stan, are you still paranoid about content manager and not running it by some chance?
I load my duf file from.smart content in Carrara and it needs CM
everytime you use Google search let alone facebook you are sharing vastly more info than Daz will EVER get from CM if perchance they do.

CMS is immediately uninstalled. I said I absolutely refuse to have it on my comp. I don't need any help managing my content . And if it is simply for managing your content why should not having it, effect how these programs run or use content?

I've opened duf and also imported it to a scene, makes no difference.

"everytime you use Google search let alone facebook you are sharing vastly more info than Daz will EVER get from CM if perchance they do."

I never log in to google, and I don't have a facebook account.
