a plug in to do simple modeling such as making hard corners and edges round or editing without leaving the program?
I remeber seeing soemthing like that before.

This might be the plugin you're thinking of: https://www.daz3d.com/gescon-constructive-solid-geometry-for-daz-studio
edit /object /geometry /convert to SubD for high resolution, raise up SubD level.
Leana I know about this one but I just looked again, this is perfect to put bullet holes in windows and stuff! Am I glad you sent me that, I thought it was just for buloen but I see so much can be done wow, -thanks!
function- convert to SubD for high resolution-that's the same as convert to subD...there's only one correct?
raise up SubD level-means view subd level?
thanks
Yes, and if you want the edges rounded without losing the faces use the Geometry Editor to select the edges and then right-click to weight them (make them resist the softening effect).
Coming late to this thread but just in case anyone else finds it while trying to get a cube with rounded edges like I did. Richard's advice only partially helped me. This is what worked for me.
1. From the top menu: Create->Primitive->Cube
2. In the primitive creation dialog, make sure to click the "More" button to see all options
3. Under "Geometry" ensure that "Divisions" is larger than 1. This specifies how many smaller polygons each side is divided into, so a low number will produce greater rounding of the edges when you apply subd (rounding extends further into each face from the edge). The value 1 will turn the cube into a sphere when the render subd level is high enough which is why you want Divisions to be more than 1 if you want a cube with rounded edges.
4. Click "Accept" to create the cube
5. Now select the cube and apply sudb to its geometry: Edit->Object->Geometry->Convert to SubD
6. The smoothness of the rounding depends on the render subd level, which can be found in the cube's Parameters under General->Mesh Resoluton. "View SubD Level" applies to the rendered subd level in the preview pane. "Render SubD level" refers to the level when you actually render the scene. At a level of 1, it has very sharp angles and doesn't really look curved, just not right-angled. depending on the smoothness you desire, set the render subd level to 2-4 for a smoother curve
