I've completed the production bar one piece of acting which is to be recorded Saturday.

So many technical issues to overcome. I managed to solve about 90% of them and fudge the rest. Overall it's pretty close to what I wanted to portray.

While we are waiting I thought I'd pass on an idea for using Volumetric Spotlights created in Carrara, but used in an Octane rendered scene.

Just rendering the lights (to black) using Carraras render and merging up to 50% of this image with the Full colour octane scene (you can slightly over saturate to compensate for the merge) gives a reasonably acceptable result.

Certainly you get the best of both worlds then, fast volumetrics (in Carrara, Octane is crazy slow at them), and realistic light interaction with surfaces (from Octane which to my eye can't be matched in Carrara).

I've been quiet on here for a while. This one has had me scratching me head for solutions. I've lost whole clumps of hair some days!

    Hi Steve... YAY!

Thanks for the new episode! I hope there will be more coming soon. :-)

There was an advert at the bottom which I noted just before x-ing it out. It was for an online render farm service.

    Cheers, Silene x

Need that pick up service when my neighbours fight.
Great video, the Enos house indeed suits it well.

Nice sets. Boy, that Octane can render nice colors!

    The future looks grim...

Very good. The camera motion works well.

The credit for "Talking Door" reminds me of a group audition for 48 Hour Film contest actors, reading a minute or so monolog for team leaders (producers/directors). An attractive, eager young woman was passing out head shots afterward, I told her I didn't need one for an animation, and that I had taken some notes on her voice. She looked a little confused (all the other 60 teams were live action), but I did see her in a few other contest videos. So I think she had a successful audition.

    Thanks Guys.

The future is grim, but I have an entertaining story to tell. Prepare for a number of plots and sub-plots.

    :)
