DS 4.8 and 4.7 various and many problems

So much is wrong I'm not really sure where to begin, but I believe it must have something to do with DIM!.

This is happening on a just installed/first time computer (although not without some problems in DIM) DS 4.8 and 4.7

In the DIM some items don't have a tick mark but there were no error warnings, I have installed a number of plugins and they are showing up in the plugin info but haven't had a chance to see if they are working' mostly because I haven't a clue what I'm doing in DS.

I load any character (see next paragraph about Genesis 1) including the animals with the only exceptions being M4 and V4 and it says

Some assets needed to load the file were missing. The content may not work as expected. The following files couldn't be found.
data/Age of Armour/Subsurface Shaders/AoA_Subsurface/AoA_Subsurface.dsf

and the character loads but non have a texture map except M4 and V4.

I click on any Genesis 1 character and DS says

Some assets needed to load the file were missing. The content may not work as expected. The following files couldn't be found.
/data/DAZ 3D/Genesis/Base/Genesis.dsf

and they come out looking like box people and I haven't a clue if they have textures.

Some bits and pieces have been installed but not showing at all in DS.

On my other/set-up computer there are scenes supplied including ready to render scenes, but non have installed on my rendering computer.

Under actors and wardrobe - Genesis Starter Essentials has an DAZ symbol icon with a yellow triangle/exclamation sign.

Loading Freak 5 DS says an error occurred see log file.

and on and on and on.

No tick just means that item doesn't have metadata for smart content - Poser companion files for DSON content, for example, usually won't (and aren't needed for DAZ Studio anyway). Plug-ins won't as they are additions to the application, not (mostly) content.

The Age of Armor shader is in the Default Shaders package - sounds as if that wasn't installed, it comes with DS. The Genesis DSF file indicates that you haven't installed Genesis Starter Essentials, which also comes with DS. If you used the defaults and installed the content DS should find it, what problems did you have with DIM and did they involve changing the content paths?

The Freak 5 error sounds like trying to load a preset without the item it is modifying loaded and selected - which it wouldn't be, since you aren't able to load Genesis base.

Hi,

I’m trying to install DS 4.8 via the install manager and via the Product Library, the best I get is the install manager keeps installing another version of the install manager (I stopped after at least 5 tries) so a few questions.

I have 2 computers and I have installed DS 4.8 and DS 4.7 on one and everything went reasonably without problems.

My other computer the install manager installed DS 4.7 and showed it as installed, but now doesn’t show anything installed and isn’t showing anything else to download’ I’ve followed the instructions but still nothing will show.

If I press download and install from the Product Library it just downloads another version of the install manager (DIM) and then waits for the install manager to quit before it can install itself.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks for your help and it looks like I figured it out, there is a gear looking icon at the top right of the DIM window, for some strange and unknown reason you have to select what is gong to be seen as well as input the filter number, I would have done this earlier if I had known, but the other machine didn’t require me to do any of those extra things! so I just assumed it was standardised.

I figured out the problem and installed everything direct from your Product Library see attached screen shots.
