Cannot see my scene when in the Render Menu

edited December 1969 in Daz Studio Discussion

Hello, I'm using the latest Studio, and a couple of days all of a sudden I began having this problem. Whenever I switch from "Actors, Wardrobe & Props" to "Render" I cannot see my scene at all (just an empty gray box where the viewport should show up). If I switch back, there's my scene again. I imagine I must have changed some setting but have no clue what. It's annoying because it means I'm having to change my render settings "blindly", then switch out to see if it looks good etc.

Any ideas?

What is your operating system and video card?

Which layout (Window > Workspace > Select Layout...)?

Does it happen if you switch between Actors and something other than Render?

I went to check what layout I was in (it was Hollywood Blvd) when I mistakenly changed it to another layout and now everything looked fine. Then when I returned to Hollywood Blvd it looked fine as well. So problem fixed! Thanks!!

Two of the most common fixes for this kind of problem...switch layout and update video drivers.

The viewport and UI use OpenGL, so the video drivers are key for proper display of all the elements of the UI.

The layout switch forces a redraw of the UI/viewport...that will clear up temporary glitches.

You've accidtentally closed or moved the Viewport, which is now in a dockable pane. Try going to Window>Panes(Tabs)>Viewport, if that opens it drag it to the top of the grey centre well and when the dock line highlights let it go to dock it back in place.

I'll keep this in mind for the future, thank you as always.

I've created a custom layout+style, so now when I inadvertedly change something, I can simply reload the layout I like..
