[Is there a way to raise or lower a hem?] Other than going to Blender, I mean. Is there some basic utility for this kind of thing?

A dForm could do it fairly simply - select the item with the hem, Create>New dFormer, adjust th field so that the bottom of the hemmed item is in the middle and the top is, say, about waist level (you want to spread the adjustment over as wide an area as possible while trying to avoid moving the bend points) and move the actual dForm node up to raise the hem.

Thank you! That seems pretty straightforward for DAZ...

There's also dForce as a method if you can use it. I have this old tutorial in my gallery on how to lengthen a skirt with dForce. It's based on simply adjusting the contraction-expansion value for the relevant material zones on the skirt, and can be done in reverse to make the skirt shorter. Higher values in the contraction-expansion setting make it longer, lower values would make it shorter.

Or one could scale the height of the pelvis, thigh and shin bones.

Thanks, all of you. I'll give these methods a shot.
