DS and Ps

I've noticed that for many products, DIM downloads and installs both a DS and Ps package.

Am I correct that the Ps file is for Poser?

If I only use Daz Studio, can I uninstall and delete the Ps packages and still have full function if there is also an identical DS file?

Yes, DS = DAZ Studio and Ps = Poser. Generally where you see both a DS and Ps version of a product, they are standalone, independent versions. Since you only use DAZ Studio, you wouldn't need to install the Poser (Ps) version.

Beware of older products with these files. Some of those have the main file, and then a secondary StudioCF. For those, you'd need both files to use the product in DS as the StudioCF usually only contained DS optimized textures and the figure/object itself was in the Poser file.

For newer items, it's flip flopped. Now Daz Studio is the primary file, and Poser users need the PoserCF.

If you go int the DIM download settings and check that you only want it to show daz studio ffiles it will no longer show the ps files unless it is the only version of an item you buy. Then as stated above you'll get the file ending with ps and then another file of the same name that ends in studioCF

i.e: (not a real file just and example)

    baroness hair PS
    baroness hair studioCF

in that instance you would download both. That should help eliminate some of the file duplicates and confusion. Theres no reason to have both installed if you aren't running both programs.
