Where do I put theses file types?

I am a PC+ member and have downloaded quite a few of the freebies available on that thread. I ran into a problem last night while putting all the freebie stuff into my DAZ3D folders. I ran into some *.lmh files that I have no idea where they go or how to get them to work in DAZ. Since they are a DAZ product I am assuming they do not need to be imported.

I have also been downloading loads of freebie items from all those other sites and have encountered some obj files along with a few other file types but am not sure how to import/convert them to use in DAZ. Are there tutorials on this somewhere?

I appreciate the help in advance.

Bruce

You should really use the DIM (DAZ Install Manager) for installing anything that you get from the store here. It always installs everything to the correct place, and when a File is updated, you get it automatically through DIM.

.LMH is a new one on me, and I can only imagine that it is something to with the LAMH (Look At My Hair) plugin.

There is an import option in DAZ Studio for OBJ files.(File > Import) You may need to experiment with the scaling if you don't know what program created it in the first place.

The files I downloaded are not DIM files, they are older freebie files that are reloaded onto the members only forum. They are DAZ files but I am not sure where to place them in my folder structure to ensure they work correctly or even open.

The non-daz related material are mostly obj files and a few others but some were created in 3ds and poser. I believe poser files will work fine but I am not so sure as I have had some poser files work fine but some others don't even show up.

Jimmy is correct, .LMH are Look At My Hair presets. To use them you will need the following:

This is generally not critical. There should be a presets directory within your main content directory. I would suggest you create a sub-directory called LAMH Presets inside the presets directory and put the files in there. There is also an option to load them within the free player.

If you haven't found it already there is an official LAMH support thread:

    http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/14818/

Alessandro Mastronnadi, one of the creators of LAMH, regularly posts there and he is always very helpful. There is also a link to the free player thread. If you have any further problems, post to this as it is infested with LAMH experts.

    Cheers,

    Alex.

    Thanks, alexhcowley!

As far as my file structure goes I have cleaned it up a little and I noticed that there are files that do not work at all in some folders (through the DAZ content directory) but work just perfectly fine in others, any know why that happens?

The Runtime folders have special rules, but files that are outside of Runtime/Data/Readme's should be movable.
