Carrara Challenge WAR And/Or PEACE - Cancelled

Ah, my many apologies, Daz has asked that we avoid this topic. 

My sincere apologies to the artists who have spent their time and  energy doing such terrific work.

Of course the fault is all mine for picking something so close to contravening the TOS.

Will post another topic later in the week

When we hear the phrase “War and Peace” many of us think of Leo Tolstoy’s 1869 book written with Napoleon’s invasion of Russia as backdrop.

 

Of course War (and Peace) has been going on long before Tolstoy crafted the phrase – perhaps every since Nature nurtured the second organism out of primal dust.

 

War, according to one definition in the Webster Dictionary, is a state of open and declared, hostile armed conflict between states or nations.

 

On the other hand, Peace doesn’t necessary mean the absence of War. In the broader sense it can also mean calm; quiet; tranquillity; harmony.

 

There are many horrifying things happening in the world at the moment – there always has been and always will be.

We see them on our screens almost as soon as they happen.

There’s also many beautiful calm, tranquil and harmonious things happening in the world.

 

Now’s your chance to make an emotive piece that might make a small difference to the world.

It doesn’t have to show humans – it can be cats, dogs, ants, or even dinosaurs.

 

If you doubt that your work could have effect please see these works by the artist Gunduz Aghayev as examples:

    Yes.  But unfortunately, Daz moderators will not let us illustrate any of them.  As you quoted from the TOS - "Posts that appear to lead to debate on personal beliefs such as politics or religion will not be allowed."  In simple terms, it means that ANY render dealing with current events can be deemed as "political," and is subject to deletion if it appears that anyone might be offended.  I learned this the hard way.

    I think it will pass muster as long as we do renders that deal with the most generic examples possible.  While it is possible to still make an "emotive piece that might make a small difference in the world," taking away the option of illustrating current events (you know, the things that actually matter in our lives) doesn't make the task any easier. sad

    Still, I look forward to the Challenge. :)

    Perfect examples. Subtle in the most part, but getting the message across nicely.

    Where did you get the uniforms for the second image if I may ask?

    Yes, well put as always.

    I think that, even though it's a hard task, in a way that's what makes it more rewarding.

    There's more than one war happening at the moment - but they all appear to have simialr characteristics.

    Maybe Generic is good?

    I'm still waiting for Daz approval. Perhaps the violence part will be the sticking point. As long as we avoid that, it will be a good start.

     

    I've pointed out that our present pool of Carrara users are all mature artists of style and good taste and that we are well aware of the TOS and will endeavour to work within it.

    Hats are from ICE Pack Three - DAZ3D Product ID: 10898 (have not been able to find a link for it)

    I don't participate (though I may post a not an entry)

    but

    If pressed for alternate ideas

    maybe, Carrara has always done it and better wink

    Replicated biomes, generated landscapes, volumetrics, all the whistles and bangs being added to DAZ studio free and paid

    and the procederal trees, they still don't really have that

    with particles sprinkled on top cheeky

    I was going to do earth, wind , fire, water etc

    but with thousands of innocent people being killed, my  c onscience got the better of me
