Hi, can anyone help me?? I am new to Daz Studio and have been really progressing well. Could anyone explain how I can use custom shaders and apply them to objects, other than primitives. I am really desperate and have tried just about everything I know. I have the Strange Substances pack, among others.

Hi, since my last question, I have learned to use the internal colour shading for all the contents at my disposal, which is really great. I am really not sure it the custom shaders can be applied to objects??

Thank you

The 'trick' with shaders (custom or otherwise) is that you must have both the item(s) as well as any of the surfaces you wish to apply the shader to selected. Usually just clicking (or ctrl-clicking if picking multiple material zones/surfaces) the surface will also pick select the item that 'contains it'.
Once you have the surfaces selected you can apply the shader.
