Spawning point in Daz studio

Hey guys,

Is there any way to change/ move the spawning point were all the items from my library load?

I find it very irritating and time consuming to add an item from the library in my scene and then have to move it from the standard spawning point to the right place in my scene.

My current scene is pretty large and I hate it that I have to keep switching between the place where I'm building the scene and the spwaning point.

It would be easier if I could move the spawning point to were I am building my scene....right?

Thanx in advance,

Jay.

Maybe this little trick will help.If you press and hold the ALT button; you can drag your character from the menu to the view port.In the view port you will see a red circle where it will drop when you release the left mouse button.

Damn, This works even beter than I was hoping for.
I thought that I could spawn items in a general location but now I can spawn them right where I want them.

    Thanks a lot!

Note that this neat little trick only places objects at "ground" level. If your scene has high or low points just there it might be a bit tricky to drop things in exactly the right place, and you'll still have to move them up or down to match the local surface. It's still a great saver of time and wear and tear on your nerves. ;-)

And this script is very useful when placing items on top of each other...

The alignment tool may also prove useful in some cases.

Since many poses set or reset the root coordinates or models, and I'm too lazy to CTRL click on them and set the parameters in the popup window, if I want to keep a model in/at a location, I'll put them in a group (Edit->Create Group...). I set the new group details to defaults with an appropriate name and then position the group to the part of the scene I want to be considered the new home position for the character(s).

New poses, including reset poses that reset the root coordinates, will all work as if the character's "home" location was the origin of the group. Works great for multiple character poses too, if you put all the characters in the same group, and it allows you to set the visibility or location of anything contained in the group by manipulating only the group.

If you're putting a new character into a scene that has a group for, say the beach, simply get them into the scene in the easiest possible way. Then, in the Scene tab, drag and drop them into the group. If you reset their pose/position once they're in the group, they'll be moved to the group's origin.
