Transfering Morphs from V4 to Genesis and onward: The Skinny Needed.

Hey there folks, Kaimetsuo aka Lady Quantum here to ask the big question of, "How in the heck do you transfer morphs between these bloody models???" :D

I consider myself a decently smart person. I've gone to college and worked with CADCAM for goodness sakes! However, trying to follow the instruction in the forums for transferring the morphs from V4 to Genesis then to G2F either are leaving something out, paraphrase, or are just not working for me because I'm a retard. =P

I've bought all the stuff. GenX, GenX2, Legacy Morphs, V4 for G2F, etc etc. Yeah. I went there. And guess what? Nothin' I get to spots trying to use the stupid things and it will give me an error message, or there won't have the same settings, or SOMETHING won't be right.

Like I said, retarded.

Everything coming out now is G2F. I'm doing my best to keep up with the trend, but my best character, the one that I know and love...is a V4 model. I NEED her to be upgraded into a G2F so I can take that next step into the new content that DAZ is making. (Along with other models that I have if possible.)

Please...in the name of all that is holy...help me.

I am running DAZ version 4.7 and have a V4 model with morphs out the wazoo, including special morphs.

    If you are desperate and you own Poser and V4's shape for G2F, I can suggest a way... it worked for me for other morphing jobs, and it may work for transfering FBM from V4 to G2F.

    So, in Poser:
    -At frame 0 load V4 with your nice FBM set to 0;
    -load G2F setting V4's shape to 1. Export it as an obj with polygroups. Import it again with everything unchecked;
    -Hide or cancel the original G2F;
    - If necessary, move and pose V4 to perfectly overlap G2F;
    -At frame 30, set V4's FBM to 1 (add keyframe);
    -in the cloth room, new simulation, clothify your re-imported G2F. Collide against V4. Edit constrained groups-> add->all. G2F will now be 'glued' to V4's surface.
    -Start your clothing simulation... the original V4 will gradually set its FBM from 0 to 1. And the glued G2F mesh will follow. At the end of the simulation, export the G2F mesh, and re-import it as a morph on a real G2F.

    I hope it heps and that I don't drive you in a rabbit's hole!

    I appreciate your reply, but unfortunately I don't have Poser. :( Like I said, the information is hard to understand with what has been provided, or it doesn't show the proper things. Thank you for trying to help though. *hug*

    The manual for Genx2 is horribly lacking in information IMO
    I found this video tutorial really helpful for converting V4 characters to Gen2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYCapNih-A4
    Still no clue how to use it to convert Genesis morphs to G2 or G2M to G2F though.

    Thank you very much for that video. :) It was very informative, and I thought that I was finally on the road to success with transferring morphs to Genesis.

    Unfortunately, once again, something went wrong and I got an error message as I was adding morphs to the GenX tab to be added to Genesis. When it happened, DAZ completely shut down, and the message popped up. I tried restarting my computer, and doing the transfer again, but the same thing happened again, with the same message. Is this plugin cursed or is it just me???

    I took a screenshot of the error so that perhaps someone could help me figure out what the heck is going on now, and will add it on at the end of this message. I'm beginning to think that I am not destined to have my Lady Quantum character as a Genesis or Genesis 2 Female...

    Thanks in advance for any help!

    Lots of hugs!

    Sorry I can't help with the error.
    There was an update to Genx2 in DIM just the other day, so it can't hurt to check you have the up to date download.
    (Another poster pointed out that if you own both GenX and Genx2 then you should only download the Genx2 update)

    Hmmm...well, I looked in my DIM, and there isn't any update in it, so I must have already downloaded them both. :( Guess I messed up? Is there a way to fix this problem? Or can you direct me to the thread where you found this out? (I'm horrible at forums. I just listen for my email to go off and then click the link to get back here to reply with my findings. :D )

    Another thing to check is that GenX2 is installed correctly.

    Go to Help > About Installed Plugins, and you should see 'Genesis Generation X2' listed there. Click on it and it will show you the version number, and it should have a green plug symbol beside it.
