Weird glitch with Iray viewport
I've just bought SC20 Botanical Garden and am trying create a scene with it, but I'm having problems with the display.
The viewport won't properly render: sometimes it shows a white and grey version of the scene, sometimes it mostly goes black. (I think the former mostly happens when using the Perspective view, the latter when I'm using a camera). Sometimes when I mouse-over an object in the scene, the display will flicker between a proper rendered image and the un-rendered display.
I have never had this problem before. I have a suspiscion that this might be something to do with the scene lighting. The scene is only lit by emissive surfaces (typically about 40,000 cd/m2); if I change the units to make it brighter (or adjust the exposure), the display is more likely to flicker to show a rendered image, but still keeps reverting to either the black or grey/white version.
Does anyone know what would be causing this?
Comments
The first is using the Iray preview, and appears not to be rendering. The second is using texture Shaded. Those the icons to the left of the camera/Perspective View button. Try using Perspective View, and turn off Window>Preview Lights (cmd/ctrl L) so it isn't trying to approximate the scene lighting.
Preview render works for me.
You may need to attach your log file to your next post for better help.
Here's the log. (From C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\Studio4 - I presume that's the one you want).
And because I accidently using different settings in the original screenshots, here is every combination of camera/perspective, Iray/texture shaded, and lights on/off.
It seems that in Perspective view, lights on/off isn't making any difference, and Iray doesn't render. In camera view, lights do make a difference, but iray still doesn't render either way.
edit
Version: 472.12 is more recent than 471.41, but I've updated it anyway, and updated Daz too.
That hasn't solved the problem, but I have found out what was causing it (although not why):
It wasn't SC20 Botanical Garden that was causing the problem, but one of the other items I had loaded. Specifically, one of the characters I had loaded was wearing dForce Fleet Commander Outfit for Genesis 8 Male(s). I had hidden the cape (because it didn't fit his pose very well), and for some reason that specific combination was causing the glitch. Unhiding, deleting, or unparenting the cape all stopped the glitch, and once I had unparented it, everything worked even when I fitted it to the figure again.
Dude! Same exact thing! You saved me. It was that cape! So weird. Had it hidden for same reason. TY!
thanks! dForce Fleet Commander Outfit for Genesis 8 got me as well, deleted and problem solved!!
