Studio 4.8 WILL NOT install

As the title says, Studio 4.8 will not install. I have tried three different approaches. (BTW the manual install file is just another copy of the installer that won't install it? Seriously?)
The installer has (reportedly) downloaded DAZ Studio 4.8. It shows up in the install que. I que it up, it goes to 16%, then says it is finished. I try to load it, I get Studio 4.7 which will no longer work (says it has Mimic error).
I tried to uninstall 4.7. Guess what? There is no installer anywhere. It doesn't even show up on the Windows control panel uninstall program. Nothing in the installer to uninstall it. No uninstaller in the Studio folder in Program Files. WTF?
You guys have really screwed DAZ Studio. I'm gonna buy Poser instead.

I'd hold off on a hasty buy. I went to Poser a couple of years ago assuming that a purchased product would be better with less problems. Two years of all kinds of problems has brought me back here. I wasted two years and five hundred bucks and made little headway. Daz isn't perfect but it's free and the community is pretty decent. I've made more progress in the past month with Daz than I did in Poser after almost two years. You can't deride a product based only on your experience...(like I'm doing with Poser).
Is studio perhaps in your "ready to install" section of DIM? I had an issue when I first installed the beta and it showed up there rather than finishing the first install. After that first time though I have had no issue installing any of the subsequent versions of 4.8.
Try the manual download of DAZ 4. It's 277 megs and will take a while. If it completes with less than 277 megs in the downloaded file you didn't get it all and something interrupted it.
