Create new "Zero" for a rotation

If I create a new Sphere in DS, and then rotate it around the Y-Axis by 20, is there a way I can set it so that, that is the new "zero" location? (i.e. the dial would show "zero" there and -20 would get me back to the original?)

I was trying with the joint editor, as that is where I changed the center point to the middle of the sphere, but I cant figure it out?

I can select parameter settings and make 20 the new default, but that just means that 20 is the default. I want 0 to be the default at the new rotation.

I do not think there is way to change geometry rotation of obj as new default in ds only.
you may need to export rotated sphere as obj then return it as new obj.

if you have hexagon already, just use hexagon bridge, then
send buck it as prop not morph,, it work well.

Or I prefer to add new null, then use it to rotate sphere.

    rotate sphere x 20,
add null, then translate it as center of sphere
then parent sphere as child of null.

of course the sphere x roataion still keep 20, then you may think it is not what you hope,,
but you can use null to rotate sphere with new default.

I figured it out, based on an old post by Richard to save it out as an OBJ in the position I want, and re-import it back in. That Worked, so thanks Richard! :)

Hoped for a solution........guy's and dolls at DAZ a "Reset Object axis to 0" button would be handy........so if someone is thinking "What should I program next?".......well here's your answer.......have been pestered by the same problem.........and it's not realy user freindly!

I'm pretty sure the Edit > Object > Memorize > Memorize Selected Item(s) Pose does mostly what you want. That will make the properties pane show the rotation of 20 as a default value. To restore it to the new "zero" you want, on a specific property > options menu (the gear) select 'Reset' and it'll get the value of 20.

    Hope this is helpful.

I think that just sets the current position as the default, and not resetting the value to 0 at the current position, which is what I was after. Thanks for the tip though!

How about this.(something I've considered to make a freebie work better for me)

Create a small dummy Primitive. Whatever works for what you need. Sphere, plane, etc.

Make that primitive the parent of the thing you want to move at a new zero.

Rotate the primitive to set up where you want your object to live.

Your object should still be at zero relative to its parent.
