Resource Error importing Predatron's LoREZ Cardinal

Hi just wondering if somebody could help me here.

My technical knowledge of characters, rigging, Node weight Map Brush and weight maps is beyond my knowledge.

I have been a DAZ Studio user for just under year since June 2014. My experience level is basic but I am a competent user .

I purchased a product in the sales yesterday, LoREZ Cardinal by the vendor Predatron, DAZ Shop SKU:13131 the Zip DIM imports fine with its database files and registers OK with DAZ Studio's database, no problem there but I noticed the ACTOR labels on the character loading PNG icons associated with the *.cr2 character files listed in the Content Library was missing. It was no problem to enter the Content DB Editor and alter the files associations to dispay Runtime/Libraries/Character/P3DA_LoREZCardinal as ACTOR > CHARACTER

I did this for 2 files, 1) LR_Cardinal_Zucchetto and 2_LR_Cardinal_Biretta - both are Poser CR2 files used in the DAZ Studio configured LoREZ Cardinal DIM product so both files now display correctly as ACTOR icons in the Content Library but I still have a problem and I think it is with the Product from the vendor Predatron. It appears the two character figures LR_Cardinal_Zucchetto and LR_Cardinal_Biretta are not weight mapped and consequently I get an error message upon attempting to load either of the characters into DAZ Studio 4.8 Iradium Public Build, I get the error message for either file:-

Resource Error

The Node weight Map Brush cannot be used to modify the selected figure. To use this tool you must convert the selected figure to use weight maps or select a figure that already does.

I don't know how to rectify this error or what to do to make the characters to be weight mapped. I am a basic user not competant enough on the deep vendor level or high level user level to be able to retify this error myself.

This is a vendor issue with the product and I suppose I should be contacting DAZ themselves as to what I need to do with the problem I am experiencing. I have no problems with any other other Predatron product. In fact, I highly respect Predatron's work and the Predatron products I already own, all are outstanding and I use them a lot but this is the first time I have come across an issue like this and I don't know how to proceed. Any help and or advice anybody can give me I would be etremely grateful because I'm not sure what to do next? I do not have the relavant knowldege or experience currently to be able to rectify the problem for myelf, its way above my skillset and knowledge.

Thanks in advance for anybody who can help me, I appreciate it.

Are you saying that you get this error message when trying to load the figures into an empty scene?
I don't know why it would be talking about the weight mapped brush to modify the figure?

These Lores figures are not weight mapped, they are similar to V4 and M4 style characters which use the Legacy rigging that both DS and Poser used before the Genesis figures were released. Were you attempting to do something with these figures when you got the error?

The release build of DS4.8 is now available (non Beta).

    Hi

I made my puchase late last night UK time way into early morning UK time so it was a bit too late to test the product straight away and I've only just has the opportunity to load the product and get it into DAZ and load into a scene.

First thing I noticed was the missing ACTOR label on both of the Character CR2 files associations so I corrected this in the Assets editor for the Content DB Editor to correct this and indeed this corrected the issue and both files displayed their associations as ACTOR

But when I import either of the two characters:-

    1) LR_Cardinal_Zucchetto and 2_LR_Cardinal_Biretta

into an emtpy scene in DAZ I receieve the error message:-

    Resource Error

The Node weight Map Brush cannot be used to modify the selected figure. To use this tool you must convert the selected figure to use weight maps or select a figure that already does.

both characters still load at default pose and wearing their default clothes. I can change the character's MAT file hair, clothes and other variations fine they all work a treat it is just upon loading the characters into an empty scene I recieve this error message.

I can still use the characters and everything associated with them the MATs and different clothes and poses they work fine no problem there it is just this error message which is really weird.

I have not tried to use the characters in a scene populated with anyhing else or any other product just the LoREZ Cardinal and I have not tried to save the characters in a scene or subscene so I don't know if I would experience any additonal errors or not regarding that.. Just a bit perplexed I got this error message from a brand new purchase and I'm sure it's not my build of DAZ Studio 4.8

I may need to do some more testing but I've only experiened this issue with LoREZ Cardinal and as I only made this purchase last night (UK time) today your time (US) and I'm at a loss why? I know the LOREZ products tend to be less inclined to have all this rigging and detailed textures business this is why I buy them because I only use the characters to fill out in the background in scenes mainly and not for any detailed close up work. I use them exactly what they were intended for and nothing else..

Thanks for your reply, very good of you.. Appreciate it.

    Thanks for replying.

I just tried this in the release version of 4.8.0.55. I don't have the Cardinal, but I tried the Lores MU Worker, the Chicken, and Lonrenzo Lores too, and all loaded correctly.

I no longer have the Beta version installed, so I can't check that. Maybe someone will shed some light on it. As long as it loads into the Scene pane, and you can work with it, I wouldn't worry about it for the moment. Let us know if you have any more bother though.

You have the Node Weight Map Brush tool active, switch to another tool (from the Tools menu or from a toolbar).

Genius, you're absolutely right! Thanks so much for solving this mystery for me..

Must have clicked on that Node Weight Map Brush tool by mistake in error and didn't know I did it - oops..

Everything loads as it should do no issues at all apart from the file associations not been marked as ACTOR > CHARACTER and this is easily fixed in the Content DB editor and selecting the two CR2 assets to show as ACTOR and resave into the DAZ_3D_13131_LoREZ_Cardinal.dsx databse file:-

Thanks so much for your help and to other forum users too. I am very grateful..

    Best regards
