You need to use the Joint Editor Toll to move the centre point (Alt+Shift+J)

Select the tool, and you can then move the axis to where you want it.

You click and drag with the Left Mouse Button, and they will move along their own axis.

Put the green one where you want the pivot point to be.

I don't think that you can! Never noticed that before, Ctrl+Z doesn't work for me.

The only thing I can think of is 'Don't save it' and it should load correctly the next time.

    EDIT:
Just realised that you mean how to save it that way? If you want to save it, you can use File > Save As > Scene Subset, and that should save all of your changes, and can be loaded into any other new scene.

    LOL

I'm stuck too CTRL Z doesn't return you back

Well at least I'm a little further forward

Hopefully some will know how to return back, and may be there a way to take the angle into account

    thankyou for your help

    kind wishes

Easy way to 'turn back'...load a new copy of the original, unchanged version. (you did save the changes under a different file name, right?).

And if modify obj pivot by joint editor, you can use resotre rigging, then your modify return to zero.
untill you memorize rigging. I believe.( can not check it now,,if it work for prop too,, now I render scene ^^; sorry)

then,, if you want to rotate for current scene only, just add null, or gorup (or simple small primitivej which you like)
and move it where you want to set pivot of obj, then set the null as parent of obj, make it easy to rotate as you want.
you can save the null (new pivot) and the prop as scene subset too.

Though if you hope to change pivot point of the prop, and need to save it as new prop, or scene subset,
you need to use joint editor.

    ==========
Ok,, now I can confirm,, restore selectednode rigging should work. (without you already memorize rigging)
    topmenu>Edit object>Restore>restore rigging selected node.

If it's already been saved, only going back to the original or redoing it by hand will get you back...

If it hasn't been saved/reloaded from save then it should work like kitakoredaz said.

DAZ Studio remembers the last tool you were using. I just gave you the hotkey for the Joint Editor toll in case you didn't have it on your toolbar (I do)

If you select any tool, exit DAZ Studio, and restart it, that will be the tool that is selected by default. All of the tools on your toolbar have shortcut keys, The Universal tool is Alt+Shift+U, Translate is Alt+Shift+T etc. etc. If you hover your mouse over any tool in the toolbar, it will show you the hotkey combination for that tool as a tooltip (assuming that you have tooltips switched on)

If you use any of the hotkey combos, you will see the tool light up on the toolbar to show which one you are using. I seldom use hotkeys, as I find clicking on the toolbar a lot easier, sorry if I confused you.

    Hi Jimmy

    Thank you for the update
    everything is cool np

I now know how to get to the tool and what it does, much appreciated

    I'm using 4.8

If I select alt+shift+j, nothing goes orange, so i can't see what tool is selected. I can use Alt+shift+j to get to it and just select universal tool to return to normal so that's fine.

The tool is in the drop down tools menu, but I can't see it in the list of icons top middle of screen

i'll have a play and see how it goes

So far I have set the green dot where I want it to Pivot and thats working ok for most object's

I set the green dot at the base of a vertical rod and it rotates fine

When the object ie a rod is a little off vertical the item wobbles, that's why I asked the other question if it can be aligned at different angle - deg

    Thank you for your help

To use joint editor , you may better keeping "tool setting tab" open.
it can clear show which tool now you are using.

and to manage center, and end point more correctly,
    you may input values too.

then adjust rotation axis, you need to change " Orientation" values.
with seeing bounding box of obj.

you may find easy ,with see pic and play around joint editor tool
with change slider value,,, , I think.

    ===========
and very thank DAZ , to offer good document for "me" about important tools.
I always check DAZ good ooficial documents. these documents must be very useful and infomative (if you can finish)

    Hi

Thank you for your help on this
i can't seem to access the tutorial?

At the moment, I only have each part of the model set as an Object

I have added the tool selection window and selected the joint editor

I can move the green and red lines around or just move them using the mouse

I have set the green crosshairs right at the point where I want the object to pivot ie the center pin of a lever

I have found that when using y rotate, everything works fine
Using a disc with a lever attached to the left or right I can use +yrotate or -yrotate np

I'm not sure what the red crosshairs do yet, so I've set them the same as the green ones for now

If I now turn the disc + lever 90 deg and also move the same a few deg around the tube say left 45 deg , the hinge now doesn't work correctly x rotate seems to nearly work.
I have still set the green cross hairs to the pivot, I must now need to orientate it somehow, there is a opaque box around the lever
that moves with the other controls but it doesn't seem to make any difference.?

Hi,, and sorry because, the link about joint editor,
    I beleve, the link is not useful (broken) for you too. it is just my little irony about daz doocuments ^^;
because some daz user may say, daz documents is good. etc. or you can serch and try by your self with use daz documents.

But I do not hesitate to complain about daz documents, as one heavy customer of daz products untill
ds user get more reasonable documents. there are too many things which can improve about ds manuall.

Anyway,, in my pic, the cone is already rotated as obj zero pose. (I rotate cone randomly then export, and re-import.
now the default axis not work, to rotate along to cone shape by parameter X Y Z rotation.

I use joint editor. I frist set center point (green) , and end point (red) by translation.(just keep clean ,se it top point)
you may not need to care much about red-hair position, if you keep it as obj.

after that adjust rotation axis for cone, by orientation with checking the white bonding box.
it should change default rotation axis. now I can rotate by new obj rocal x,y,z and new axis for parameter tab.

( it is Eura Rotation. then it is important to check axis order which setted by joint editor)

the red cross hair decide, current obj rotation axis I think,,. (then it rotate with obj roattion)
(actually I do not know clear, what the red axis point to use , I confuse too ^^;)

but pivot point = green cross hair keep center point., and default groval axis.

it seems very strange when you first see,,

but keep joint editor as active, then check red hair, with rotate obj by parameter, you may understand, how rotation axis was decided.
eg first rotate X 30, red axis hair rotate with pivot point, it show current rotation axis change too.
next rotate Y , the obj rotate with the red hair curent y axis, by green hair pivot Ifeel.

    ============================================

I sent request several times as official report , to improve daz joint editor, to more clear visible, and easy.
(and daz may better to offer documet. why daz can not?

about daz rotation way. and how user manage obj or node rotaiton corectly.
or how to set pivot and end point, and the boundary boxes.

when I play with blender, never feel such difficulity.
