Render goes black in Daz 4.8

I have had little problem with rendering until I upgraded to Daz 4.8 and am also upgraded to Windows 8.1. I don't know which to blame but when I try to render now, the render screen turns black instead of the nice gradual pixel change over to the rendered picture. I am at a loss now as to how to address this as without renders, my Daz 3d program is useless.

I was just reading about this earlier today... Sadly I'm almost out of time and can't find the thread, but it is most likely in the first 3 pages of the "commons" section of of the forums...

Basically, it said that there is a conflict between 3delight and Iray materials... I forget which combo it was, but the some of the shaders go black when used in the other render settings...

I wish I could help more, but I'm hoping this at least points you in the right direction.

Are you using IRay or 3Delight render engine?

IRay is now the default render engine in DS4.8, and you have to select 3Delight from Render Settings if that is what you want to use.

I think there was a glitch in the system as I fired up the PC today and the rendering worked fine. Yesterday it was sluggish. Yesterday, it didn't matter whether it was Iray or 3Delight, the result was the same. Today, it's fine, thank goodness.
