    CAEK has been achieved, and it is lookin' pretty OK, considering that this time... I had to assemble (I had baked and done everything I can do beforehand) it in a fornlorn, gently decaying gym building's dressing room/refreshment room. I was sitting on a floor, while the cake tray was on a bench and I did everything I could to maintain high levels of hygiene. Success, since I'm vaguely germophobic (I keep washing my hands at every possible opportunity when cooking).

    a year from now they'll ask me to update something, i'll have to start from scratch.  won't be able to follow my own code.  job security.

    ...

    Have you considered that if you'd have to start over, that the company could just as well hire someone else to do a fresh start too, surprise perhaps with a more modern or more professional approach to the problem?  I've always thought that that "job security" excuse was just a cocky or lame rationalization for lack of time, initiative or documentation skills.

    As someone who wrote apps for Excel when I was working, I have say it happens more often than you think. Many places do not like to hire new people when they have someone on salary that can do the job. The day that someone else took responsibility for my apps was the week I retired. "Better the devil you know," was the reasoning behind it in my case. laugh

    Nice!  Are those props plastic or frosting or candy, or a mix of all three?

    ...yummy looking.

    Yeah I'm that way in the kitchen myself, especially when handling meats, poultry, or fish. I usually have to refill the kitchen and soap bottle about once a week or so.

    Marzipan! I crafted them myself. Pearly drops are well, pearly candy drops, and I didn't do those myself.

    ... ...ahh nuts, working on an evening scene with Streets of Old London but discovered there is no way to apply an emissive shader to the clock face on Big Ben to light it up as it isn't a separate material zone from the rest of the tower's upper portion.  I also have Skipper25s model of it, but there is a similar issue in that the sides and bottom of the upper part of the tower are also the same MAT zone as the clockface as well.  So If I apply the shader in either case, the entire upper portion of the tower will glow.

    Tried to see what i could do with both the Geometry Editor and Hexagon, but nothing to work with as the area where the clockface is applied ot is just one big square polygon on both models.

    Open a graphics program, open diffuse map of the tower, select the area of the clock face. Turn everything else black, and clock face area white. Save the resulting map. Plug it to either emissive (if using IRay or Reality) or ambient (if 3Delight).

    ..ahh did it with a bit of kitbashing.

    The way the models are set up, If I set everything else to black. the surrounding parts of the tower would be black as everything is on one single map

    Using Skipper25's model what I did was cut the clock face from the map, applied the modified map to the upper portion of the tower (the hands are separate meshes so you can set the time). Then created a thin cylinder primitive onto which I attached just the clockface image that I cut from the original texture map. Applied the emission shader to the cylinder and then added the clockface diffuse map to the emission and base colour channels.

    The one bad issue though is what you see in the shaded preview mode isn't what you get in the Iray render as for some reason the alignment gets messed up.

    ...and with a 1GB GPU it's a real pain to use the Iray view style to line things up again.  Don't know if this is just somehing inherent or some kind of odd bug in Iray.

    @KK

    How about a plane with an image of the clockface on it and the areas around the face could be made invisible with a trans map? Then you could move the plane into place on the clock and parent it.
