Well, maybe not the model as that crashes Carrara..

but we can use her textures on other models so not all is lost ;-)

Hey, its the Milenium Cow for Genesis 3! :) I didn't know that some of the biggest technology developed for Genesis 3 was direct to animal shape morphs / transformations!

    you are gonna hate me
I am rendering an animation, in C8.1 not 5

OK it IS an iClone 3DX5 pipeline export, C8.5 hated it with facial animation, C8.1 seemed to cope better and actually imported it correctly too except shaders too much highlight usual, left on clothes as thought looked scifi cool!!

Very interesting Wendy! Especially how iClone handles the additional bones Vic7 has...

    Yes that is just iclone.
I have no issues using her there whatsoever and can map and animate every bone.
Though there are some limited tools compared to Carrara (but as many again Carrara does not have too) certainly more than DAZ studio.
She is not easy to get over facially animated to Carrara though, get an error occurs frequently, a pop and it just craps itself stuck on a window, not showing all the menus and freezing.
This can happen anytime even at frame 1800 of a render!

OK, I never even looked in this thread since it was about Victoria 7 and I am prejudiced against humans (yes, I am the worst kind of racist - I hate the whole human race!) (You can't get more racist than that!) (but I hate everybody equally, so it's the same as not being racist at all) (except I am) (I like parenthesis).

Nice work with the textures! How'd you get the 3DU Toon Cow into Cowrarra?

I tried when I got it, but it wouldn't import properly. Is that an 8.5 only thingy? I still need to sell more web-work to get upgraded to 8.5

    Yep, you are right Sock..

it's an 8.5 thing though the bell don't work and crashes Carrara each time I try to load it... it doesn't ( as you know ) come with any whistles, so maybe that's why it don't work...

So why all the cries and whines about V7 not working in Cowrarra?

Surely this is a far more important issue!! We demand support for 3DUniverse's Toon Cow! Everybody file support tickets! Make new threads! Get Joe and Andy in here to debate the technical details!! DO SOMETHING!!!

    By the by...

The placement of Vicky's eye on that render makes it look like a horrible gash-wound of some sort. I thought Gore was against the TOS here :snake:

Well, I *finally* got a paid commission for a website and used a bit of the prepaid card they paid me with to get Carra 8.5!

Naturally, the first thing I did was try to load 3DUniverse's Toon Cow!

Got the error in the attached image.

    The text box says :

Warning: file /data/3D Universe/Toon Cow/Toon Cow/ToonCow.dsf could not be found
    Error: node /data/3D%20Universe/Toon%20Cow/Toon%20Cow/ToonCow.dsf#ToonCow not found

I included the window showing the dsf file is indeed exactly where Carrara says it is not.  Not sure about the second line of the message.

Is there some trick involving Daz Studio or maybe the DUM to make the Cow load?

Needless to say this is a critically important factor in my decision to get the upgrade!

Anybody got any spare clues I can have?

Have you tried directly opening the dsf file from Carrara's file menu? (as opposed to going through the Content tab.) Another thing is to right click the Toon Cow in DIM, and pull up the file list. You can check everything off and make sure it's all in the right place. Might not help, but you'll at least know it's correctly installed.

Actually, the reason I asked is that I don't have DUM installed.

Is it required for use of dsf and etc files?

I don't think its a DUM thing, but rather a CMS thing.  I don't use dum either, but I get the same error every now and then. I run it through DS, adding it through the CMS thing and that usually fixes the issue

    Cwap.

Was hoping to avoid CMS, but it's a small price to pay for such a Cool Cow!

Guess I have to learn how that works, and even install Daz Studio, right?  Studio is required for CMS if I recall correctly, but am unsure and at work anyhow - will find out tonight!  Thanks for the input.

the new DAZ 4.8 does work better than old versions

for what it is worth, even on my win vista 32bit craptop until today when I decided to boot it up with Linux 64 bit  instead and use Blender instead

.... and that should be fun

    Thankies, Wendy  smiley

Will give it all a go after I feed the cats and humans and even myself!  That Cow was my main reason for the upgrade, so I really hope I can get it working, even without the Cowbell (which was mentioned earlier in this thread as crashing Carrara).

    Sock,

make sure first off that you have the version of toon cow for DazStudio not the Poser version..

make sure you have the latest model ( I think it was updated a while ago )

Here are the screen grabs of the tree structure you should have for the toon cow

and yes, if you try to load the bell Cowrrara goes belly up!

This is SO cool! Great use of V7, Stezza! Love this!

  • SockrateaseSockratease Posts: 813

I thought I might have the Poser version installed, but saw that dsf file so now I'm not certain...

    Will re-install and try again.

May need to install that whole CMS thing too.  Was hoping to avoid it because it shouldn't be necessary - but I don't know the working details of this software so it may be required...

    Thanks for the tips, Stezza.

I'll get this cow working soon!
