Turning props into a light source?

Tempo777Tempo777 Posts: 6

I tried and followed everything this guy (or girl) said in the following link. The tube won't work as a light source.

http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/14536/

Here's what I did:

-Spawned the tube...
-Clicked on uberlight base while pressing CTRL to set the material preset image as "ignore".
-Tried every options in the surface pane and rendered ever time I made a change in the options.

(Fall off end was set to 4000)

I came to conclusion that I am missing something. All the program does is to render the models as a pitch black objects.

Help?

Are you rendering in 3delight or Iray? Ubersurface is a 3delight shader.

    No, I'm using iray.

For Iray use the Iray Emissive shader.

My deepest apologies, but I'm very new to DAZ. I'll appreciate if you can lead me where to start with Emissive shader.

No problem, if you use Smart Content from the Surfaces pane Presets section, it's under Default > Shaders > Iray > Emissives. If you don't use Smart Content or Categories it's under Content Library > DAZ Studio Formats > [library name] > Shader Presets > Iray > DAZ Uber
