IRAY: Where does it render to?

Ok..so you set IRAY to render to a file...and it takes however long and eventually ends and spits out a file to your chosen location.

Where is the data before that? Is it storing it all in RAM? Is it writing transition png's in a hidden cache/temp folder?

Lux writes the file to the drive and keeps updating..if your computer crashes while rendering, you still have a file to whatver point it got to....is there such a thing with IRAY which is, shall we say...a bit crashy?

C:\Users\You\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\Studio 4\Temp\Render (as I recall, details may be off).

And since that's Studio's temp folder, closing Studio will probably clear it...after a crash it may still be there, until Studio is restarted.

  • You're quite right, Richard, the path is correct for WIndows.

    On Macs it's Library/Application Support/DAZ 3D/Studio4/temp/render.

The folder is cleared out as soon as DAZ Studio is restarted.
