Footprint billboards?

With regards to the discussion at https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/584956/beach-environments#latest :
footprints decals reveal their flat nature at steep angles, but what if we had billboard footprints with rotation scripts for a handful scenarios, sand, snow, mud, so they are shot with some depth when rotated right?

The problem is not with getting footprints into the scene, but getting them to sink into the surface = Needs some sort of manipulation of the surface in question, otherwise they would be invisible under the surface or floating on the surface.
Is MeshGrabber scriptable?
