GPU Memory Utilization

Attached is an excerpt from a log file where IRAY was unable to perform GPU rendering due to lack of VRAM. Is there a way to script a "pre-analysis" of a scene to determine how much VRAM will be required for GPU rendering? It would also be nice to produce a list of objects in a scene and how much VRAM each utilizes. Which API(s) would I have to use to accomplish this?

Unfortunately it isn't possible to calculate how much memory wil be used in advance.
Maybe in a later revision...
Nope, actually the opposite. DS 4.15 didn't tell how much VRAM a scene would use, but it did show how much VRAM was used. This information was removed by Nvidia in later versions.
In general, a GPU with 8GB's of VRAM is about minimum usable with current DS and newest assets.
Personally I upgraded my 8GB RTX 2070 Super to a 12GB RTX 3060 a couple of months ago just to get more VRAM.
