Smart Content Categories Missing

Just installed some new products.  Now, under the smart content tab for both files and products, the only categories that appear are all files, default, and anatomy.  The new character, Moyen, has the brows appear under anatomy.  Is there some kind of problem with metadata?  Can't seem to restore my smart content to show the different categories.  tried apply context to filter on and off.  New scene, character in scene, empty scene.  No effect.  Reloaded the app several times.

Anyone else having this problem?  And is there a setting or switch to adjust to make the smart content go back to its standard categories?

UPDATE:  Uninstalled the Moryen HD character through DAZ Central and the categories were back to normal when I reopened studio.  So, maybe something is wrong with the metadata included with the character?

Yes, I've had this happen with a number of products recently.

I thought the Smart Content data was lost, it actually drops into a sub-folder when the "bad" product is installed.

Check the sub-folders that are left, one will have all your data in it.

  • I appreciate the help.  Reinstalled the character, and looked under the content library, under 'Categories' and found the subfolders.  However, not sure how to edit the directory so that the proper folders appear.  I've looked online, but cannot figure out how to simply drag the errant folders into their proper places so that smart content works correctly again. Is there a simple way to do this?  I hate to just not install the character I bought in order to have functioning smart content.

DAZ studio has certainly become quite the chore to wrestle with over the past couple of weeks

Sounds like some of the product files have been mistakenly categoried as "Anatomy" when they should be categoried as "Default/Anatomy".

You should be able to fix this by right-clicking the errant file(s) and placing them in the correct category then removing the checkmark against the wrong category. I think this would remove the extra "Anatomy" top-level entry and put you back to normal.

The first time it happened to me, I spent hours trying to fix it. Thinking that my Smart Content was broken. I wasted hours uninstalling and reinstalling and scanning hard drives. I wanted to save you the pain of that.

One thing though, don't mix DIM installs with DAZ Central installs. No good will come of that. Or is it DAZ Connect and DIM? I can't remember to be honest. I stick with DIM and manual, nothing else.

  • Just had the same thing happen to me.  The Elven Enchanged Forest bundle is a huge mess.  Moryen's eyebrows show up in smart content outside of the default smart content library.  I thought my database got corrupted too, and I rebuilt it.

The environment it comes with too also doesn't load.

Oops. Replied to the wrong thread.

In any case, this has happened before and I did go through all the database hoops. It was a real headache and time drain.
