Missing Squirrel

So I was trying to find my cute little squirrel figure that I knew I had (DAZ Squirrel), but couldn't find it.  I could find the material piece and the poses (none of which were in the Smart Content, but I had to use the Content Library section), but not the actual figure itself.  I checked my product library and I did, indeed, have it, also verifying it in DIM.  I uninstalled it using DIM then reinstalled it and manually checked the folders.

On a hunch from the files I was seeing (after half an hour of searching and puzzling over this) I realized that the actual squirrel itself was found in the Poser section of Content Library, even though all the rest of the files were in the Daz section.

It's labelled as DAZ Squirrel in the store... wha???  Is this normal??  surprise

Does this "Figure Loads with Poser 5+ Material Presets, DAZ Studio Material Preset (.DS)" mean it's actually a Poser item that can work with Daz?

It makes me shudder to think of how many items I own that I never see because they are in the Poser folder instead of Daz one where I'm expecting them!  Yikes!

Hi. This is not an uncommon thing, especially for older content. To understand this a little background is required. In the beginning, DAZ3D was producing content that was designed to serve a relatively large Poser user base and it was therefore necessary to priovide content using established Poser conventions for folder structure and file formats. DAZ Studio was also designed to use these conventions. So all content was "Poser format". The content library still distinguishes "Poser format" content that can be used by both Poser and DAZ Studio separately from DAZ Studio content that is natively supported by DAZ Studio alone. Thus the two categories. You could hypothetically eliminate the Poser format categorie by opening the older content in DAZ Studio and exporting it as DAZ Studio format, but this would be potentially time consuming.

    Six...potentially?  cheeky

How about...VERY time consuming to 'how long before the Sun runs out of hydrogen?'

Stryder87...one way of thinking about it is...Poser Format is the same as saying DAZ Studio format BEFORE Studio version 4.  And yes, not everything will be found in Smart Content.
