Installing Content

Can anyone tell me how to install content purchased at Renderosity? I purchased a few items, and I unzipped them into the same directory as DIM. The items that show up in Content Library are not highlighted blue and thus there are no items in the folders. The items that do show up, don't load. I manually moved the zips into The DAZStudio folder, and I have the same problem. So, how do you install items not purchased thru DAZ?

DIM will not see non-DAZ content, so you will need to install it manually. This is a 3-step process.

Pick the folder you want it to be in and put the files there.  Different products are zipped differently, so you might have to manually move things around.  You should have a Runtime (for poser content), or whatever the top level DAZ Studio folders are, within the folder you create.

If you created a new folder rather than adding to an existing allready-mapped folder, then In DAZ Studio's Content Library pane, click the menu item and select Content Directory Manager.  If it is poser content, click on the "Poser Formats", then click the Add button and browse to and select the new folder you created (NOT the runtime; the folder one level up from that).  If it is DAZ Studio content, click on "DAZ Studio Formats" and add that too.  (a lot of DAZ Studio content comes in both formats, so you may need to add both.)

In DAZ Studio's Content Library pane, click the menu item and select "Scan known directories for files" (this tells DAZ Studio to look in the mapped folders for new content.)  Your content should now be found somewhere in Categories > Default, either pre-sorted or in the Unassigned category or maybe both.

Ok, so now the items show up highlighted blue, but when I click to add to scene either nothing happens or I get a missing .dsf message.

Not sure, somebody else will have to help on that.  One thought though, what version of DAZ Studio are you using (Because I found in my notes ".dsf/.duf will not work in older versions of DS").  But if you have the latest, that's not the issue.

(Also, by "click to add" I assume you mean "Double-click to add", since single-clicking doesn't load any content, it just selects it in the Content Library...)  And just in case the runtime/content folder isn't set up correctly, you might want to compare it to another, working runtime/content folder to see if there are any obvious problems like a folder in the wrong place, 2 levels deep, etc.

4.8. I've had nothing but problems since updating. Some of my shaders don't work anymore either. I originally unzipped into the same directory as DIM installs to, then I unzipped into the MyLibrary directory, and still nothing. And sorry, yes I meant double-click.

Some of the shaders (pwGhost comes to mind) install half into content folders and half into the DAZ Studio folder (when I do a manual installation, I have to actually move files after running the installer).   Those shaders (and any other products that might do this) therefore need to be reinstalled if you do anything that would have deleted or moved the DAZ Studio folder (such as a clean install on a new PC, moving between a public and a beta that are installed in two different folders, manually deleting the folder that DAZ Studio is installed into and reinstalling DAZ Studio, installing a new version of DAZ Studio into a different directory, if a DAZ Studio upgrade were ever to change the default installation location, maybe unknown other things.

Try quick doing an uninstall/reinstall of the shaders in question and possibly that will fix those.
