Daz 4.8 will not render

I wondered if there's a way to get my old Daz 4.5 back?  I've uninstalled and reinstalled Daz 4.8, but it will not render.  It sits there and time passes and nothing happens.  I've waited as long as over 12 hours for one render.  Didn't do anything.  I also tried a simple render, still nothing.  I'd like 4.5 back because I could actually render with that.  Plus, I just spent $120.00 on mats as well....not happy right now.

    I don't know what the problem is, however one thing you may wish to try: see if you have the same problem using the 3Delight render engine.  (Render settings pane, change the dropdown near the top.)  I see from your screenshot you are doing an Iray render.  Iray is the new default render engine, and I'm uncertain if you knew that it changed.  And if you are willing to fall back to the old version, that means you are willing to use the 3Delight render engine that was in the old version, so if that works for you, great.

    Of course, you should still be able to render in Iray too, somebody else will have to help you there if you decide you want to figure out what the problem is there.  You could try a few different scenes (maybe something small like a cube or the test scene that comes with it just to make sure the problem isn't just limited to that one scene.)

    As for getting your old software back, as with all programs and data on your computer (not just DAZ Studio), you need to make your own backups.  While sometimes companies offer old versions, other times they don't, and sometimes they do for a while then pull them, and companies and policies change; you should never depend on somebody else for your backups because you have no control over others, you should always make your own backups.  Now would be a good time to start.  It might be a little extra work to do, but it's worth doing.

    Thank you for your reply, sriesch.  I have tried it with the 3Delight option as well, same problem.  And as I said above, I've tried simple renders as well with no results.

     As I've been using DAZ since '07 off and on, I am familiar with their updates.  I had 4.5 and it worked on this new, all in one PC, then I went to use it yesterday and it was updated to 4.7.  4.7 wasn't working...wouldn't pull up my files.  So, I updated to 4.8 and now I can't render in any way, shape or form.  You're correct, I should have made a backup with 4.5, because I'd taken a long hiatus before due to DAZ not downloading on my old PC (which was new at the time).  But, I thought that since 4.5 was working, I didn't need to worry.  Plus, it's in my install manager but won't download completely.  I have the files for DAZ 4.5+SDK, DAZ 4.5 SDK Docs and DAZ 4.5 SDK Samples.

    One other thing to check is to see if there are any clues in the log file as to what might be going wrong.
