Existing postgreSQL server and CMS question

Due to the lack of a fucntional search I'm not sure if this has been asked and answered but I have a question related to using the PostgreSQL CMS with an existing PostgreSQL install.

I already run a normal PostgreSQL installation for web development related things so I was wondering if it's possible to tell the PostgreSQL CMS to use that server instead of it's own, and if so exactly what steps are required to make it work. Other than allowing SASL auth for the other computers on my network and a few optimizations for my system my standard PostgreSQL install is pretty much a standard installation. I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty with some command line work if necessary.

I want to add I only want to do this because I hate having two instances of the same service running if it's not necessary, even if the one is only running while I'm doing 3D stuff :)

    Yes, it's possible...no I don't know the steps.

I think Kendall has done it and may have posted some of the info...and there's some discussion in the Dev subforums (the SDK one, I think...they are now child forums of the Daz Studio subforum).
