Creating Own Clothing, Environments, And Props

I'm so confused in regards to this. Googling has not helped, and the tutorial list has been, well, confusing me. Am I supposed to use another program to do such things? What program? How do I take finished clothing, environments, and props from that program and apply them to Daz3D?

You'll need another program to model the 3D object itself. Any modeling program which can export the model to .obj format would work for that.

Then you'll need to UV-map your 3D model so it can have a texture. That might me handled by your modeling program, or you can use another program for that.

Then you'll need an image editor (GIMP or photoshop, for example) or a program which enables you to paint directly on a 3D object, to create the textures.

Once you have the 3D object you can import it into DS and apply the textures there. For figures with moving parts or clothes you'll need to rig it (= ie add the skeleton) in DS. And then you save your prop or figure in DS format.

  • Ah, thank you. What do you mean by add the skeleton? Is it something where, the clothes are created, but you need a skeleton to make them able to fit on and be able to move with the characters?

Yes...the process is 'rigging'.  The bones/skeleton are what allow movement/posing.
