Software Comparison?

Software is on sale today and it might be nice to know exactly what the differences are between Daz Studio, Iclone, and Carerra. I'd always thought these programs were cousins...from the same family...but reading their product specs makes me wonder how compatible they are. It seems you needs an importer to bring Daz content into IClone. And that program uses a different renderer than Iray. Are these programs even made by the same people? Are they meant to function the same or are they totally different interfaces?

DAZ Studio and Carrara are both made and sold by DAZ 3D.   Carrara was a 'bought out' by DAZ 3D many years ago, and is now updated and supported by them.   It can use DAZ 3D figures (NOT G3F yet), and the latest version can open DUF files, so it is compatible with DS in many ways, but it is not a 'sister' program by any means, and the UI is completely different.

iClone is made by Reallusion, but DAZ 3D sell their software here now, but DAZ have nothing to do with Reallusion that i know of.

There is a Bridge from DAZ Studio to Hexagon (the DAZ 3D Modeller, also 'bought out' by DAZ 3D, and a bridge to Bryce which is another item which was originally made by another company, but now solely owned by DAZ 3D.

Thanks. Good stuff to know. I wonder why Daz sells Reallusion stuff? I have always been a Mac person and liked the one-ecosystem computer lifestyle. Simpler is better. Confusion confuses me. But that said, I'm after animation tools and a sale is a sale.
