NVIDIA Graphics Card not showing in Iray

Hello, I have a brand new iMac with the NVIDIA GeForce GT 755M Graphics card, I am on DAZ Studio 4.8.0.59.

Under Render Settings/Advanced in Iray only the CPU is available.

Does anyone have a clue how to get DAZ Studio Iray to see my card?

iMac?  You need the proper drivers...one of the Apple users will need to walk you through which drivers/files you'll need.

I think it's the CUDA drivers, apparently they aren't installed by default on Macs so it has to be done manually.

Note that having a brand new iMac doesn't say anything about how new or high-power the graphics card is. And the important statistic seems to be the number of CUDA cores; the more your card has, and the more (and faster) onboard memory it has, the faster it can grind through the render calculations. For example, my card is a bit on the old side and only has 96 CUDA cores and 1GB GRAM, so I probably shouldn't bother even trying to use it to render.

  • Specs say that card has 384 cuda cores, I did a bit of googling and saw some other people having similar issues. Here's the page for mac cuda drivers, hope that helps: http://www.nvidia.com/object/mac-driver-archive.html

SpottedKitty, I picked up a GT730 on the cheap a while back to replace a dead video card. I highly recommend it if you're looking for a cheap upgrade.

  • I'm having the same problem. Downloaded drivers and CUDA drivers and still no luck. Anyone have a solution? I bought a new Nvidia card just for this and hate to think I wasted my money.

  • FWIW, I went to throttlekitty's link and installed the CUDA driver for my iMac, and that did the trick.
