Reinstalling DS and my experiments along the way.

So 2 years ago I lost my DS content external hard drive. I unfortunately lost a lot of wip's and freebies that I had picked up along the way. For a while I was really despondent and didn't have the energy or enthusiasm to reinstall the massive amount of items I've collected over 17 years of doing Daz Studio.

Luckily a friend on facebook posted an ai image and it sparked my interest again and now I'm reinstalling after 2-3 years of hardly touching a computer.

To start this off I'm going to post the ai image and the morph I created using dial spins...sometime in the future I'm going to try and do a better job using zbrush.

Feel free to lurk, comment, ask questions and even if you have done something with the character I'm playing with feel free to post an image.

    So this morning I was back to reinstalling content and as usual managed to be distracted...(yes I'm probably adhd as I'm always going off on tangents)

    Today's character is an old freebie from 3DUniverse called Low res girl. I think she's kind of cute but she really is quite lo res.

    I couldn't find any poses that came with her, so I may have to hunt and see if there are any freebies out there.

    Out of the box...

    Converted to subD, shaders applied

    Figure with shaders, sub d and clumsily posed by myself.

     

     

    As you can see she would still need a bit more work to rate a finished render. Unfortunately there is no body under the outfit but she still has potential so I will have to hunt for some freebies. Hopefully someone has done some eye textures that I can use.

    A render I started during shutdown but didn't finish...so I decided to finish it. I'm gradually going thru scenes and seeing which ones still work.

    Rediscovered Pocket Kitty by 3DU. He's wearing a free tshirt which I located thru this thread here https://www.thefantasiesattic.net/attic/index.php?topic=21632.0

    He's wearing 2 tshirts. One is wearing the freebie textures I just downloaded thru the thread I linked to and the second is wearing one of the textures I released many years ago that I still have zips for. My adding a push modifier it is a bit further out than the first tshirt.  It's nice to be able to use the new ds features on an older character.

    So I've spent today trying to find the freebies I lost when my hard drive failed. Found some old favourites but it's sad how many are no longer there.

    Spent some time taking Hein's Elven robes and converting it to triax, still working on finetuning it. Discovered it's best to convert to weightmap and then fit it to Hein as that way you don't lose the handles.

    3DL render using Fisty's sparkle shaders and also using dforce.

    Thought I'd get back to finishing Gruggle's Bodysuit. I still need to do some work to fix the poke thru caused by movement.

    I ended up making a texture and also a cape instead. Focusing is very difficult today.

    Yay! Genesis 9 is here.

    I've had a quick play and they are fun to play with so far. Using the Victoria 9 hd object I had a quick play in zbrush.

    Woohoo! Really pleased right now as I got my dress working with Genesis 9. Still need to uv map, texture and fine tune the weightmapping and create any additional morphs that are necessary.

    Managed to convert a few figures over from genesis 8 female to genesis 9. 

    Salem which is an aiko 8 figure.
