Trouble with V3 and M3 shapes for Genesis
I have both these products and I'm using the latest build of Daz Studio (4.8) on Windows 7:
V3 and M3 Shapes for Genesis: http://www.daz3d.com/v3-and-m3-shapes-for-genesis
GenX AddOn Gen3 for V3 and M3: http://www.daz3d.com/genx-addon-gen3-for-v3-and-m3
I've had these products for ages, but I think this is first time I've tried to use them, and apparently I could use some help.
Yesterday I loaded the Genesis Female figure and expected to find a V3 modifier as an option for her shape (along with all the other age and male/female modifiers that are available) either on the SHAPE tab or under the PARAMETERS tab. It wasn't there, so I thought I would need to load them onto her. But I cannot find separate morphs or shapes associated with these products (not in Smart Content (which I didn't expect) or in the Content folders for Daz or Poser).
I even uninstalled and reinstalled both products. I even deleted the Genesis femal figure and replaced it with the Genesis Male figure. Same results.
If you're familiar with these products, or some other way I can turn Genesis into Victoria 3, please let me know.
Mike

Just to be sure: you did load the original Genesis, not Genesis 2 Female?
Genesis (original) is both Male and Female, If you are using this : http://www.daz3d.com/v3-and-m3-shapes-for-genesis it will ONLY work with the original Genesis figure, and NOT Genesis 2 or Genesis 3
Thanks for the input, boys, but I finally found the shape I was looking for!
I'm theorizing that my rebooting the computer had something to do wtih me suddenly being able to find the morphs I was looking for.
Oddly enough, I wound up going back to the original V3 figure. Even though the basic shape was right, something just didn't look right. Sometimes there no school like old school!
Plus, the lower poly count actually made it easier for my system to handle the two other figures and complex background in the scene.
The original V3 has a higher polygon count than Genesis.
That is freaky weird. The scene definitely seems to move faster with her than a corresponding Genesis figure. Perhaps there is other overhead in some other way?
Textures will proably use more RAM for the Genesis version (there are more files used and they're probably higher res), and there's also the smoothing which is applied by default to Genesis.
It is how the polygons are handled... One draws them all on the screen at once, one adds the "more polygons" later, when you render.
The new models have a nice quality selection in the parameters to lower the quality a notch. Works great for a little boost, then you crank it up after you switch to wire-frame, just before you render. (Removes the GL-render overhead off the screen.)
Try hiding things and setting them to "unselectable". That helps a lot. Stops your mouse from trying to highlight everything it passes in front-of, and hidden, it frees-up some screen-refreshes, while you work on your target items.
I once favored the V4, because I had tons of free junk for it. Now, I have tons of free junk that works with V5/6 (Gen1/Gen2), and some works with Gen3, but I am having to make all my own morphs for that at the moment. Impeding work-flow, but preparing me for the future... So it's all good.
Thanks for the tips. I am definitely tired of the mouse trying to select each and every small item I pass over.
