How exactly do I buy the Genesis figure/what is it?

in New Users
As someone returning to DAZ3D after a long absence, I am very confused about all these new models and things. Is Genesis 2/3 an actual purchaseable FIGURE, or is it just a TERM used to refer to a certain set of models (Genesis 2 = Michael and Victoria 4, Genesis 3 = M/V 5 etc)?? I keep looking in the products and all I see are morphs for this Genesis person, but never a link to the actual figure! (whereas a product for Michael 4, for example, will LINK TO Michael 4 so you can purchase it)
Can someone please help me clear up this confusion??

Genesis, Genesis 2, and Genesis 3 are separate figures -- they're free in your Product Library or in DIM, rather than being in the store. The 5th generation figures, e.g. Michael 5 and Victoria 5, are morphs of Genesis (a single figure for both male and female); 6th generation figures are morphs of Genesis 2 Female or Genesis 2 Male; 7th generation figures are morphs of Genesis 3 Female (and Genesis 3 Male, which hasn't been released yet).
Genesis is 2 generations old and kind of left out. Victora 4 still gets some support because of Poser, but Genesis has been replaced by Genesis 2.
Genesis 2 Male and Female is the mature figure line with plenty of character variation and a wide variety of clothing.
Genesis 3 is the bleeding edge, Still no male figure.
I have seen the term applied to both a specific figure, and used as a general term to cover a range of figures, so you will probably have to look at the context in which it is used to know which is being referred to for certain. To use Genesis 1 as an example, clothing might be referred to as being "for Genesis", but in reality I'm probably going to put that clothing on V5 or M5, both of which are variations of the base Geneis figure, and are separate products that expand upon that figure and are not in the "Genesis Starter Essentials" installer that Genesis.duf itself is found in. (in fact about the only time I've really used just the base Genesis.duf figure all by itself is for testing other content that I later use on V5/M5 instead.) But
