Fast Test Renders?

Is there any kind of button or mode that will provide fast test renders? This is especially for setting up lights, I can't see what they will actually do until I do a render. I will render at a much smaller pixel size but it still can take a long time to create the image and verify lighting and other details.

Any tricks for faster regular renders?

I try searching RENDER TIMES but the forum search results is somewhat spotty for what it brings back so apologies for asking what is probably a common question.

I thought there were a few presets for high, medium, and low quality rendering, but I can't find them anymore.  Maybe somebody knows the name of these so you can search your content library for them.

Something you can do that might help, do a spot render of a super-narrow strip that cuts all the way across important parts of the scene (like maybe one horizontally and one vertically across the middle).  It will render in a fraction of the time and give clues to the lighting, even though you can only see a little bit.

Unfortunately, no... If you make it fast, you have to alter the quality and will have no better idea of what it will look like in high detail.

However, You can "save render settings", including default ones... And use those as your defaults, low quality. Then load-up your high quality settings by clicking on your saved settings... (Name it "Production Quality" or "My HD settings" etc...) Along with renaming the default settings to "My defaults", so you don't think they are DAZ defaults. You can get those at any time by selecting the "Defaults" button in the render-tab settings.

You can use the "IRAY" option in your view... it is a faster version of rendering. The top right-side of the screen where you select Wire-Frame, Shaded, Textured, Box... Select IRAY. (Try the OPTIX setting too, on the second tab in the render settings. Might help a little.)
