Leave a Few Daz Originals in the $6 Range Please

I'm making this suggestion because, as a PC+ member, I've enjoyed being able to use my $6 coupon in the past to buy an item or two outright. With recent changes, however, I'm finding no Daz originals that are not PC items in the $6 price zone. This makes the coupon worthless to me, as I'm not always prepared to spend more every month. The other coupon works nicely for times when I do spend more, but as it is now, the $6 off Daz Originals, non-PC only, is worthless to me. We've been promised a free item every day through website promises, even though that clearly does not always happen, or sometimes it happens with items you must have other items already owned to make use of. So, for us loyal subscribers, please, leave a few Daz Originals that we may purchase each month with our $6 coupon. It used to be that way, but for the past few months it seems no longer to be the case.

the goal of the coupon is to get you to spend something. even if it is just a few bucks.

No, the goal of the $6 off an $18 purchase is to get you to spend something. I'm already spending something every month for my membership. The $6 off Daz Originals, non-PC only, was for the purpose of getting $6 off. It was only in the last few months that there is no longer anything for less than $6 in the store that is not PC. I appreciate you sharing your opinion, but I respectfully disagree.

I have used my $6 off coupon to purchase items that did not total up to $6, therefore wasting the extra savings. That is my prerogative. I'm only suggesting that Daz remembers those of us who are loyal subscribers and toss us a small bone each month. There are months when I spend way more than $6, but this is not about that. This is about the fact that I used to get something with my membership that I no longer am effectively getting through apparent policy changes.

And let me assure you, if I wasn't planning on spending more than $6--that's not going to change just because Daz has made the coupon worthless for my purposes. In other words, attempting to force me to spend a few bucks by making nothing available in that price range good for the coupon any longer is not going to force me to change my spending habits. Poor marketing decision if that's the entire point of the change.

I can understand your reasoning, trust me in the past I used the coupon to get stuff free. But as a business that isn't their goal. The purpose of programs such as PC+ is the have people spend more money(then they would have spent if they were not a member). Coupons like these encourage people to spend more regularly.  It's not a coupon to get a freebie of your choice each month. The point of coupons like this are actually to encourage spending. You don't have to view it that way, but it is the reality of it.

And there have certainly been months I never used my coupon because I didn't feel like scanning the list yet again to find something freeish. Often didn't want to even spend 2 bucks for items.

Regardless of all that, I don't think that they are going to have cheaper products. Other than sales of course.

I'm sorry, but if the decision by Daz was made for the express purpose of forcing PC+ members to spend a few *more* bucks, then they are simply wheedling away at the benefits once given to members and simply not stating that they are doing so. Is that what you're implying, larsmidnatt? I don't know you or how much you know of what goes on at Daz, but you are acting as if you know something of the matter. Is that how it stands at Daz? The purpose of the coupon is to get us to spend money? That was not the case before. Before it was more, you could spend this on anything within the guidelines you like, and the guidelines were actually pretty broad--Daz Originals but non-PC only--which used to be a lot more stuff at lower prices than it is now. Same guidelines used now ends up with more money spent to get *anything*. Are you a PC+ member? Do you work for Daz? Just wondering where your perspective enters into the issue.

Yes, but it was added for the purpose of giving us back a benefit we had years ago that was lost when the site was changed over. Long time ago the $6 coupon could be used on PA items to an extent. So this new coupon was added because we complained we wanted a way to use our monthly coupon on PA items again. The rules are in place to reduce the negative impacts on PAs because of coupon use. Instead of getting a PA item free, the PA still gets money.

This isn't a marketing thing, its a finance thing. Same reason they got rid of the PC program and created the PC plus program. Apparently things needed to change. While we may not have liked it, I can understand that $2 items were probabably too cheap in these days and times.

Nvm then... I see. Then maybe I'll cancel my membership, as "It pays for itself!" was really what I had in mind when I joined... not spending *more* money than I would've otherwise spent.

I still think it pays for itself most of the time. I go on breaks from the PC club myself. The upcoming PC anniversary will likely be a great time to be a member.

However these coupons are just one piece of the equation. If you think about all the combined benefits, you can see how not being able to use the coupon every month may not be a deal breaker.

I get most of my PC club benefit from buying daz originals, even without the coupon. often times one medium sized purchase does pay for the PC membership outright.

BTW, No I don't work for daz. I have been a PC member on and off for years. I am however a business professional with a good understanding of rewards programs and memberships like PC+. I can tell you that people in programs like this are high value customers, but not because of the membership fees. Just like Amazon Prime. The prime fee isn't the goal from Amazon, they know once you sign up you are going to spend money to save on shipping..

I was pretty active here around the time the PC+ changes were going to happen and remember Daz employees explaining the need for changes to the program. I thought it all made sense even if we cried about it :)

BTW, Daz (or other compnay) wouldn't ever say the purpose of a coupon is to make you spend money...they wouldn't say it...

It's great when you can get something for free with the coupon, and I love to try to do that myself (my budget has been $0 for the last month or two, and for another month), but... consider coupons in every other walk of life.

Do you really expect to walk into a store with a coupon and get free stuff without spending anything?

hey cheaper items is always a good thing. i second this too. the problem is ill be honest for a lot of us who do this as a hobby a lot of the items are still a bit pricey and it all does add up still less costly then say a lot of the stuff over at turbosquid (i think someone was selling a female 3d model that did not look much better then then what daz had for like a thousand bucks there! and im like really? :-p)  but......i mean it still adds up personally i think platinum club members should get a bit more love sometimes.  ;-) oh well.

  • Problem is it's hard to justify making a product worth less than $6. Thats the reality.

and there is a weekly freeibe you get for free being a PC member. Having to spend $2-3 isn't to much to ask imo.

Even when there isn't a DO sale going on (and there usually is) there are quite a few DO's under $7.

Weeeeell, those weekly freebies run out before long.

After a few months it's more like a monthly freebie.

cause there is the invisible rule where you only add one freebie to your cart a week, and then you might be good. Like I got 4 freebies this week. So prolly be a month before any new ones show up. Weekly Freebies***

***Weekly Freebies are averaged over the course of a month, Thanks Management!

Not those weekly freebies, the one new weekly freebie we get each week.  This week it's the Easels.

I should pay better attention, maybe it HAS been weekly. I'm pretty sure there was a spate where there was nothing for weeks...

Not that I'm complaining. The fact that I'm paying nothing for the base app and rather substantial improvements over time, and the fact that ANY of it is free, plus the wealth of free stuff elsewhere... it's very very awesome.

And enough free stuff gets released that I often find myself, a month later, going through props and going 'wait, what? What's that? When did I get that??'

i sometimes forget to even download stuff. I recently discovered when viewing my purchased I got some free accessories I could use on a character...I was like when I get that? Looked up the order, was a freebie from months ago.

The Platinum Club freebie has been pretty consistant; in those rare times when one wasn't ready (i remember only twice in the last six years) we got double freebies the next week as well as an explanation in the Platinum Club forum... Just remember that this freebie always appears with the regular products, you must be logged in to see it as free, and it never appears with those general  free items in the crawl.
