Making my models look better..

Ok, so I JUST last weekend decided to join the rest of you here in 2015 by updating my modles from V4.2 and M4 to Gen2 and Gen3.. it was a strugle(as some of you may recall) but yesterday we got them to work. My problem now however is trying to get them to look good..

Ok, so when I would load up lets say V4.2 I would sellect a skin Texture that I liked then I would select all the surfaces that were Skins(SkinFace, SkinTorso, SkinHead, SkinArm, SkinLeg, SkinFoot, SkinForearm, SkinHand, lip, Nostril, Nipple, and EyeBrow) change 'Diffuse Color' to a VERY lite shade of teal, and change the 'Lighting Model' to skin. from there i would select each of the surfaces and play around with the 'Bump Strength' and 'Displacement Strength' until I got everything to look pretty realistic, then finally I would take all the parts that are supose to be wet/slimy like the Eye parts and everything past the lips and set their to 'Lighting Model' Glossy Metalic, and I would do the same with her lips, toenails, and fingernails...

I'm looking through the surface tab with Gen3 and I'm really not thinking the same tactic will work here. mostly because I cant find a 'Lighting Model'

Any help or sugestions would be appreciated.. :)

That really depends on what render engine you want to use.Studio comes with 3Delight and Iray now.Iray is the one that does the photorealistic stuff. Here is a great post from MEC4d on the subject using iray http://www.daz3d.com/forums/viewreply/813374/ .

I strongly guess that DAZ was that nasty and renamed that one. On Genesis 3 Female's material settings there's a dropdown menu which is named "SSS Material Type". Since it contains such things as "Skin A" and "Skin B" I'd guess that's the thing you looking for.

  • Lighting model is a switch on the default DAZ Shader - it essentially makes that a five-in-one shader, changing things like specular behaviour and adding SSS in the skin mode. Using a dedicated shader like the AoA SSS shader or uber Surface should give more control and better results.
