Won't let me load items to use on the figures

Here I have a problem that is bugging me, i'm new here so i'm sorry if this has been said before.

When ever I try to add clothes or a prop  For example a shirt it won't show up and i get this message "Error reading file, see log for more details." The log file isn't helping me and it just says in the log file is the same error message that i got when loading the item. I have all the starter essentials installed and i even reinstalled them but that didn't work, some help would be appreciated.

Are you sure that you are trying to load the figure, not a texture for it.  That is a common mistake.

It is not always clear if the thing you are loading is an actual object, or just a material, or a light-rig, or a morph, or whatever...

If the item is setup for "Smart content", (Meaning they actually set it up correctly with the correct MetaData it needs.) This will be less of an issue, once you learn the "names" for things... Such that "Materials" is not an object, just a style of an object, and it will not "smartly" load-up the item it needs to apply it on, instead, it will just give you an error, or do nothing, or attempt to load things that it can, within that file. (Such as loading a material that says "Load all mats", where it can load some items, but not others, because they don't exist.)

Also, some items, even when they are "Smart", are not always setup correctly, or can't be, due to limitations of smart content, or the author. (Such as having a co-dependence on another morph or something like a +{plus pack}, or external component like "Dynamic clothing 2"... Provided there were such an external component.) Those item can "Fail to load", as they attempt to access a sub-component that is required to modify, to get to the end-result of loading the final shape.

Smart content also only works if you have something selected, that it knows... (Selecting something like a custom object or model, without any "smart data", will result in the "Smart content" saying that everything is available, including "Materials" that are not actually available. They should fix that, so unknown objects do not show obvious "Custom content" designated for specific things, do not display. Until then, you will see errors like this, until you "Figure out what is what".)

Can you be specific to the items you are loading, or trying to load, and on what model?
