lens flare abstract backgrounds
How are the lens flare looking background details created that appear in so many promotional images, such as in the Scott 6 or Harmoney promotional images? I really like the look of the abstracted colors and floating light spots, and can probably think of a way to recreate them in post production, but is there is a setting or default to the camera to use as a shortcut? Or a product?
Otherwise I would drop a primitive or curved surface behind the figure, give it a gradient or a colored spotlight or three, then add lens flare in post. Or just render the figure and add the background in post, but that drops the shadows that can help define the figure, for example the promo for Garen for Scott 6

Though I would add the background in post, there are many free and commercial "bokeh" backgrounds you could apply to a backdrop prop, so it's rendered with the scene. You can also make your own using a Photoshop filter, or a program like FilterForge. It's also possible to it with pinpoint light backdrops and depth of field settings, but that's the hard way. It's an easy effect to do procedurally.
Nice, I didn't know the term "bokeh", and researching from that got me to some products and such. You're right, it would be a lot of work to manually put in lights like that, and its best done in post. I know enough PS to where I can probably make up my own, or at least cobble something together.
I appreciate the help :)
