How to change dress color?

I have a priestess gown for genesis and it's red.  Is it possible to change the color and how? Studio 4.8.0.59 pro.

Is it this one you have? : http://www.daz3d.com/priestess-for-genesis-female

If you go to the Surfaces pane with the outfit selected in the Scene pane, you should see a texture map which is loaded in Surfaces > Diffuse.   If you click on that, and use the Browse option, that should take you to where the texture map is stored on your computer.   It is then a case of loading that itno Photoshop or Gimp, saving it out under a new name, and applying that through the Surfaces pane to the item.

Before you do that, though...there should be a total of 5 materials for it...are all 5 red?

The materials should have presets...probably in a subfolder for the dress.

  • Thank you friends I'll implement your suggestions and report.  @JimmyC, yes that the dress.

  • You can also just change the color by changing the "Base color" or "Diffuse color", of the material in the same place where you select the material image. (That will "colorize" the dress, keeping the same pattern, but it may disturb the details a little. Not much on that dress, but if you had a red and blue dress, and colorized it green, it would all turn green. Both colors would mix, to match the green... depending on the shade of green you select. More white = less green and more of the original color... Dark green would be pure green, but begin darkening it too.)

Beyond that, and the image-swapping of styles... You would have to buy more styles or try other patterns/materials, or make one from a template with an image editor.

Well, you could always make a request in the request area.

Be careful when changing the Base color if it uses a texture image in the texture slot as it will colorize the colors in that image and your result may be vastly different than you expect.

You could edit copies of the texture, if image based, in an image editor.

You could also take a look at the various shader products in the DAZ store.  Some will not only change the color, but the type of material and even patterns on the cloth.
