Animate camera focal distance or f/stop?

I'd love to be able to animate camera focal distance and/or f/stop but as far as I can see, there is no way to do this. Am I missing something, or does anyone know of a workaround for this?

Haha, well thanks Richard. Never done so, but it might be worth my time to see if I can get something working. If not at the very least I'm likely to learn something. So far my searches haven't turned up any scripts that do this, even from mcasual, and I'd think this would be useful to more than just me, so it's surprising one doesn't already exist. There might be a reason for that.
