LAMH player, real fur, etc Daz Big Cat 2
Hey all,
The new animal sale got me thinking; the last animal sale I picked up Daz Big Cats 2 and it mentioned getting the LAMH free player for use with the fur, which I did. However, once loading the LAMH player/fur it shows the fur in preview as green strands but when it renders it does nothing to the cat, they just look default. Is there something special you have to do? Do u have to buy the full version of LAMH (http://www.daz3d.com/look-at-my-hair), and what is up this this product by the same pa's: http://www.daz3d.com/real-fur-for-big-cats-2 ? Anyone with experience with all this? I could use some direction, as I'm lost concerning these products.
Thanks

Which renderer...because the default LAMH hair won't render in Iray, it needs to be converted to an obj to be able to render in Iray, and I don't think the free player can do that.

Yeah, to do the conversion I think you do need the full version.
Actually, yes it was IRay because I just test rendered the White Tiger with LAMH free player with 3Delight. Wow, he is very beautiful.
Conversion? You mean to convert the fur to an object to be rendered under IRay?
Yep. It makes a somewhat poly heavy scene, but it does work well.
ok, thanks.
Real fur is a Carrara product
only useable in Carrara
free player does convert to geometry for the LAMH ones
It better not be. It says DS 4.8 I have Carrara but don't need Real Fur for it. If its for Carrara, Daz screwed up on the product page.
I'm not sure what you mean by "the LAMH ones."

Ah sorry checked link, it is LAMH
there is a similar named product I confused it with, my bad
But yes player exports geometry too
you must pose the figure how you want it rendered as fur is a solid not rigged mesh
Ok, I'll have to learn about this exporting thing. I know nothing about that. As far as the posing, you are right, I just found out the hard way, I went to move and pose the tiger, not sure what I ended up doing exactly to do it, but Studio didn't like it and crashed. I got it right a few minutes later though.
I've done all mine another route as had never considered the conversion one! I render the scene in iRay then match the lighting for the cat in a 3Delight render, results that way aren't too bad once combined...
AllessandroAm posted a tutorial how to use LAHM in Iray, by converting to obj. It's pretty simple:

For animals with lots of hair, he suggests that you half the number of hairs, and increase the hair's width, rather than converting all the hair.
Here's what it looks like used on the fox (the rest of the fox is default conversion to Irayonly, mats need more work):
Did a quick 3delight render last night. I love this fur (LAMH). I don't understand how to convert it for use in IRay though. Looks like "Real Fur" changed all my "Big Cats 2" to LAMH figures, but I see no conversion options. Is that done somehwre else, somehow?
Was a pain trying to figure out why the Tiger wouldn't pose with fur, but I finally figured it out. I'm guessing you click on "just" the animal (as the fur is seperate it seems), and then pose him/her, I noticed then the fur "jumped" back on the animal under that pose. Couldn't seem to get it to pose any other way, so I assumed that must be it.
ooops. sorry Lee, didnt notice the link u gave. I'll have to check that out. BTW, how are u posting the image like that without it being attachment? html? Nice btw.
That's pretty simple, and you can also use it to post the image you upload as attachment inside of the thread.
Simply select the "image" icon (1) and click on it (that's at the top of the comment field, right above the "Styles" dropdown menu).
A popup window will open, and you just have to insert the link of your uploaded image into the URL field (2). Then, change the Width to 750 (3) if the image is wider than 750 pixels. everything larger will explode the forum layout. Click "OK" (4), and the image is there.
By the way, if you want to display an attached image that way, you have to "Post Comment" first. Then copy the URL of the image, go to the small gers in the upper right corner of your post, until "Edit" shows up, then click on "Edit" and insert the image as described. Then, save the edited post with "Save Comment".
Width = 800 is the max size to use on the forums, not 750
That's true, but I had difficulties with some browsers & Screens when using the 800 width, so I make it a bit smaller than the max width.
