is it possible to manually exclude geometry from a full body morph?

I'm not sure I want to spring for Morph Splitter, as this is a one-time use only.

I have a full body morph but now struggle to zero out the head part, because I want to apply a character head morph to it.

Is there a workflow that I can use to exclude the head geometry from getting morphed? I'm thinking like a mask of sorts. Something with weight paint perhaps?

As an add-on question: I'm interested in occasionally excluding parts of a facial morph, so for example if I was to apply a character face morph to the figure, but I wanted to exclude the nose, I hope to be able to mask out the nose geometry somehow and have only the rest of the face morphed.

You can exclude selected vertices from a morph. This does not work for HD morphs AFAIK. Josh Darling has a YouTube video about this. I don't have a link handy.
