An embarrassing mistake (refund possible?)

I just bought Michael 5 and Wagner for M5 thinking they were the latest Gen of Daz figures. Yes, I know, that was very dumb of me since the latest is Genesis 9.

Anyway this $60 mistake leaves me with 2 products I have absolutely no desire or use for. I can't find any help page or link dealing with refunds or even if refunds are possible. Can someone point me in the right direction to resolve this or am I just SOL on this blunder?

I think you have to file a help center ticket and choose refund in the appropriate section. That's the only way I know.

  • Thank you both for your help. The refund request has been submitted.

I know I'm late to the party but I just don't understand why not being "last gen" would make you not wanting to use those assets? Obviously you enjoyed the way they look, otherwise you wouldn't have bought 'm.

Don't get me wrong here: I hope your refund request goes well. Daz3D is very customer friendly from my experiences.

But I also want to mention that... "old" doesn't imply "useless". To this very day I still make renders using Genesis. So... one, the very first generation. And it works for me.

Latest doesn't always imply greatest. With all due respect to Daz3D but as of right now I'd rather work woth G8 assets instead of G9.

I am with on this. I still use stuff that is over 15 yers old and with a little bit of ( I do mean a little) work.

    looks really good.

    i still use

    V3.M3.V4.M4.G. G1M.G1F.G2M.G2F.G3M.G3F.G8F.G8M

and poser models in Daz studio.

If it does the job I will use it

While I agree with you on the "it's not useless" aspect, I think the OPs refunding is sensible.

It's not just the character you buy, there's the entire "ecosystem" connected to it. You need clothing, poses, hairs, etc for the Genesis characters, 3DL to Iray conversion, Conversions for the "new stuff" to G1, and whatever. That doesn't sound like much when you already have a library full of "old" content, but if you just start out with your collection, and all of your fresh-bought content so far is G9?

Then, returning M5 and Wagner (no matter how good they look) is the reasonable thing to do, financially as well as regarding the "ecosystem" you're investing into. Besides, there's always going to be a "latest gen". In a few years time G10 will come out, and at some point G9 will look as "old" as G1 does now. A new user now will (just like us "old farts" wink) have invested into several "Gen ecosystems", just like we did, and still get a lot of mileage out of content bought a decade ago.

Just my thoughts on this. And just for the record, my "work horses" are G2, G3 and G8, and I haven't invested much into G9, exactly for the ecosystematic reasons.

I agree completely with BeeMKay's very incitful assessment of the situation. The new user made the right decision to return the old products.

I agree with BeeMKay and Barbult's comments and there is also the fact that Customer Service is very understanding in these cases. I know from personal experience.

So true.  I still find myself doing a huge percentage of my work with Genesis 3 figures as I find their mainly morph-based expressions to be far more natural than the more bone-centric 8, 8.1 & 9.... and this is despite owning literally hundreds of the later figure system characters.
