Limited Time freebie : IClone 6.   I'm not sure if it's standard or pro, but a lot of people use it.  It's being given away by SharewareOnSale like HitFilm was a while ago.  I already own IClone 6 so I didn't go any further.

The sale is going on for another 39 hours.  Just do a search for "SharewareOnSale" .

Just got it! Was coming here to report LOL yes

I was somewhat delayed checking out some demos and tutorials about it. I got iClone 5 Standard last give-away, but haven't even tried it yet. This version has a lot of updates and, well... this video kinda makes me want to try it right away!

Yes. But it's Standard, not Pro. Also, it doesn't contain 3dXchange, which is what we'd need to bring stuff in or export stuff out - I think we'd need 3dXchange Pipeline in order to use Daz figures... not really clear on that. But we can no longer get such things for iClone 6, if I'm not mistaken... only for the new iClone 7

you don't need pipeline to use Daz figures - just 3dxchange if you want to add animation to Daz models that you bring over

    thanks for the nice comment

What? After 30 days Standard edition won't allow timeline editing - of any kind? I won't even run it, if that's the case.

only very basic features yes pretty limited but I actually worked with iC3 and 4 with those limitations for years

ya thanks for the headsup on Iclone

    question for Wendy et  al

why would I want to use Iclone over Carrara?

and how can I integrate it into my Carrara workflow

(I don't do animations If I can avoid them)

    thanks in advance

well not doing animations you probably won’t use it much

before I got pro I largely used it to composite with Carrara, since it has animated textures and backgrounds even if only avi, wmv and mp4 not image series, one can easily add carrara animated Backgrounds or bits on planes etc, I did that a lot to get stuff in.

I did not let the limitations stop me, rather I found work arounds.

thanks Wendy, I love your flexability. Does it do cloth drape perchance?

yes but you cannot export it

sorry, most things are in house and the program is heavily DRM reliant for content

just how it is, we have been spoilt by our open community and expect everything to be that way, its not.

Free is free though so rather than pout and not open it, play with it, learn it’s limitations and find ways to work around like I do.

thanks Wendy, if only I had the time :) obliged for letting me pick your brain too - cheers

I've downloaded this free iclone, but during installation I noticed that it's only somewhat a game with toys getting clothing and making them move. So I canceled the installation cause I need only the soft for creation, not for playing.

if you do not do animation then iClone is not for you

    No I don't.

  • it is what it is, virtual actors and sets used to tell stories, do presentations whatever

as I said you can still composite with it

make animated scenery backgrounds in Carrara and use your easy to animate iClone actors, it has a horse and a car, terrains, particles as well as physics and you can retexture the all in one outfits on the earlier figures too as well as do faces.

Beautiful still renders is all what I need from 3d soft (in most cases).

...and speed trees with wind dynamics! ;)

Cool features built into stuff, much like Carrara, but more for animation filmmakers, like a check box for making a light 'broken', making it blink intermitently until it's either fixed (in the timeline) or....

...but I think that is for the Free Trial download from Reallusion. What Gusf1 and I got was a full, Standard version for free via SharewareOnSale, which is not a 30 day or time-limited trial... but a time-limited deal which, unfortunately for those who have missed it, is over.

more a cool concept to better understand UV mapping

requiring much testing and disposing of the chocolates inside to help me grap it.

  • Very effective demonstration

I guess the disposal of the inside was the most difficult part of it wink
